A little next to the hitbox of Marth's usmash is a small little flick that can do many things. If done properly, it can do these things...

  • It can throw the opponent backwards to setup an edgeguard
  • If the opponent DIs it, trying to do a movement option before the hitbox connects, they can be thrown into the tip of the blade
  • On big characters this happens automatically but they're thrown into the hilt.
As you can see, this up smash is a thing of legends.

I think what he's referring to are the hidden hitboxes on the ground at the start of up-smash.
For illustration purposes, here's Marth's up-smash:

Around where the dust clouds are, are hidden hitboxes that launch the opponent upwards. Their purpose is to knock the opponent up into the sword itself, though if you hit them at the wrong place, they can miss the sword entirely, and just get launched off diagonally (125°, to be precise).
This has been known about for ages though.

It's a nice way to smash out of a sprint, since it has a very different timing to the other options you have and a lot of people tent to forget it's there, so you can kinda throw a curve-ball with this attack. Doesn't work too well on small opponents, but still useful most of the time.

Kinda similar is the hidden hitbox on the start frame of his up special that hits an opponent right behind you and registers as tipping damage. Don't rely on it though, because that hitbox is really tiny. Still funny to whiff an input just to see your opponent flying off into the stage.
