New item idea: The Kart

Yes, the go-kart from Mario-Kart.

You'd jump in and become invincible. Then you can dash around the stage at high speeds, and hop to get across gaps and over ledges. Run opponents over for decent knockback and good damage. It should last about the same length of time as a Starman.

But don't drive yourself off the edge.

....wow, this would actually WORK. It could be like Wario's bike, only for everyone! It'd have to be the Shy Guy kart, though, or an original Smash kart, but I'd love for it to change depending on who's riding it.

I dunno about invincibility, though. Maybe it has a certain time limit, after which it will disappear, but time isn't used up if you leave the kart, and the timer resumes when someone gets back in.

Yo should be able to get knocked out of it. Or people could jump on top of it and down smash you or something. That would be cool haha. If a bomb-omb appeared you would be boned.

That's actually not a bad idea, though being invincible is a bit too much... I'm thinking super armor, and the kart explodes after you take 30% damage or so, but with a longer time limit.

Well I thought about the invincibility thing before I posted this, and I came to the conclusion that it would pretty much HAVE to be invincible, wouldn't it?

If you make it so people can hit it, then you would never get the chance to move. Once someone knocks you up in the air, you're helpless, because the kart can only move on the ground. The item would be totally ruined. People would actually AVOID grabbing it, because it would be a free kill to whoever sent you airborne first.

So I made it invincible, but I also think it should be fast, like really fast, and perhaps even slightly unwieldy. Kinda like Sonic. You'll need great control in order to not go rushing off the stage, and you also have to plan ahead for where you opponent will be once you reach him. If you think he'll jump to avoid you, then you'll need to hop slightly ahead of time so you'll already be in the air and flying straight for him.

i think when the time runs out u should bail off and it flies off the stage but hits people as it flies off. dissapearing into thin air aint good enough creative wise

I think the kart should have these features:
1."gas guage" based time limit.(I.E. only runs out when you use it)
2.when you take X amout of damage it spins out sending you flying outwards.(others can then enter)
3.it can hop/jump(so that you can attack those above you)
4. as a hidden feature you do the tumble effect when you run over a shell and you do the spin automaticaly when you hit a banana.
5.it breaks boxes automaticaly.


hey this brings up a thought for me: what are the boxes at the mario kart course? are they the items boxes from the game or normal crates?

Invincibility is a bad thing. Prehaps something more like Giga-Bowser; no knockback but damage?

I don't think asking for invincibility is absurd.

It wouldn't be as 'cheap' as a Super Star because, remember folks, what you gain in power, you sacrifice in mobility.

Last I checked, a kart wouldn't be able to hop up a level on the stage.

Basically, the strategy would be to ride back and forth on the biggest platform, catching whatever sad person might be knocked upon that part of the stage.

Of course, the downside would be figuring out how to deal with the possibility of the kart landing in an improper area. Probably best if it could be picked up and then activated at the wielder's whim.
