Hello there.

Name's Kendall. I'm a femme-smasher and artist on the side.

I would really like to see SSBM at Evo. I'm offering these following incentives for generous donations. Cancer is dumb. No matter how much you give, you're doing a good thing.

To claim your prizes, email me at darkidder@gmail.com with the subject line "Evo Prize". Put the following information:

-Name
-Gamertag
-Links to your donation receipt(s)
-What prize(s) you're claiming and a general idea of what you want out of your commission (we might have to dialogue a bit to nail down the specifics).

$1000+

Anyone that donates 1K or more will get a custom fleece blanket made by yours truly.

Here are some examples of previous blankets:

These are fairly expensive and not to mention hellaz time consuming to make, so unfortunately I can only offer them to 1K+ donors.

I will limit shipping to within the continental USA, BUT international folks can have the blanket mailed to a US Smash buddy that can hold onto it until the next time they meet at a tourney.

$500+ $250+

Marker/watercolor commision!

$100+

Sketch commission!

OR

$100+ [LOCAL St. Louis/Chicago area ONLY]

I will bake you a batch of nerdy cookies!

Post any questions/comments in this thread or email me at the address given above.

Dat companion cube blanket.

If I had $1000 to spare, I would donate and get that blanket. Great incentives!

Ah cool. So do they cure poison status? How much health do they give?
Well, I'd say the best ones are the heart containers. Full health and increased stamina! That or the extra lives. I don't know about the poison, though. You might take a 1UP mushroom, die, and see if you come back unpoisoned.

Im sorry, but this has to be said.

These prices are completely unreasonable. Part of me thinks you actually dont want to part with these things, or do the sketches, however make it seem like you are doing your part to help out.

If you drop the prices down to say, 5-10% of what you are currently asking, you might actually get people donating via this cause. or better yet, donate money yourself.

I'm trying not to be mean here but there is potential for these items to make money to add to the melee donations, with these current prices though I have a hard time believing you will sell anything.

One $2 sketch is infinitely more profitable than zero $1000 blankets...

I'll have to agree. While I can understand $1000 for the blankets considering how much time, effort, and material they would require, I really can't believe that they're worth only two pictures.

These rewards are only for top donors. There is a different artist doing a giveaway and another artist selling prints/commissions.

There have been several $1000+ donors already, so I'm not stressing out about the limited crowd.

Here's the breakdown with the blankets:

1. The blankets shown were given to friends, not ones that I have lying around (except for the Companion Cube, but that has been used by me for four years, so it's kinda gross at this point). It's not like I have them already and I'm not willing to part with them. The prize is a commissioned piece, so I have to make my own pattern from scratch.

2. The commission blankets cost about $30-$50 in materials and 10-20 hours to design and make. Even if you valued my time at $5/hr (which, as a programmer, I can promise, you, it's not), that puts the cost of these blankets over $100 with shipping.

You can see why I can't have fifty people getting blankets.

I'm sorry that you don't think I'm doing much to contribute. I did spend all day yesterday working on promotional artwork. But if you think there's a better use for my time, please let me know.

I'm not offering prints, I'm offering commissions. The only other artist offering sketch-commissions is doing it for $200 donations. His are of a higher quality, so I think his price is fair.

Commissioned art is expensive because it is time consuming for the artist.

But! Point taken on the colored pics. I'll cut the price in half. ;)

cut the price by like 50% and have half go to donations and use the rest for materials and stuff
I would love to, but I don't have anything set up to accept money. I'd rather it go straight to the cause. I also don't want it to seem like I'm trying to make a profit or anything. It would have been an okay idea if I had thought of it earlier, but there's no time. I'm working really hard right now on some original art for a raffle in the final hours.

If I could make blankets for everyone, I would. Believe me. :)
