Well we have seen the pic of the day and it looks pretty neat. Does this remove the chances from being able to tech out of those launch situations? Just a thought...

I am not sure what you mean, you may have to clarify a little bit. Do you mean the picture in which Link and Samus are entering the blast line and by teching do you mean air dodging after you are hit to prevent the character from entering a reel? In this case, we aren't given enough information to deduce if they can't air dodge for this purpose.
Watch the Gameplay video of Sakurai vs Mario, the effect starts showing after about 70% but it is almost not noticeable. It becomes more prominent and lasts longer the faster your opponent is launched (the higher his percentage is), but it is very obvious even before you die. Watch when Mario hits Megaman out of the stage, the effect is very obvious, yet Megaman doesn't die, so it isn't an indicator of death percentages, it is just high speed launches. The reason behind the thought is that it would be kind if pointless to have that animation from being launch if you could still survive. Possibly at only high percentages, in the trailer we saw Link perform his Up B and wipped out two characters and that launch effect was present. We all know trailer magic though, its at high percentages but don't show the percentages.
Maybe I'm missing something, but those effect only show which player did the impact. So if it's blue, it's 2P (unless colors change in the next game). If the character dies, 2P gets the KO. One issue in time is it may be hard to tell who got the KO and why. This makes a bit easier. This is not a technique or anything. Just an indicator.
