So I've loved smash for a long time but only recently did I start getting really into watching the pros play and following the commentators on twitter and failing miserably at trying to get 20xx to work. So now I'm trying the next part of my journey into professional smash and that's making this thread.
I play project M and melee. I actually started melee when I was 8 or 9 then I left it and then I was on and off in high school until junior year when I tried to get serious with Brawl, but lacked the initiative. Then, I started playing/watching project M and I fell in love. I also realize that melee is a bigger part of the community band that it's speed and game play was amazing. But now my friends and I feel that we've reached a plateau. I've only played friendlies at one tournament (Beast mode NY) and I want to get better. My internet is **** and I'll hopefully be frequenting this so anyways and/or thoughts are welcome along with any training regiments or anything really.
Other games I play: Chess (not well) and Tibia (P.S. I think I remember seeing AlphaZealot in a Tibia bot forum but I might be wrong. But if I'm right, I'll be very happy)
Finally my email is pmorphy43@gmail.com

Hiya, nice to have more new blood around here (well, actually you've been registered here for a little while I see :p).

Well, if you want to start fresh, I recommend taking a look at this guide.

As for character specific tips and such, check out their respective sub-forums in the Project M/Melee Character Discussion forums.

In general, it's easy to hit plateaus when you're playing the same people over and over because you're used to their styles and not really learning anything new at that point if you're not growing together. Therefore, I'll also recommend that you look into the Regional Zones and try and get into the scene in your area to play with more people.

Anyways, glad to have you at Smashboards and I hope you stick around!
