Post some ideas for new gameplay mechanics here.
One idea I had was to have the dodging system from both Brawl and Melee be present in SSB4. It could map directional airdodge (meleedodge) to L and brawldodge to R, and not allow you to meleedodge until you have touched the ground if you had already brawldodged. This could allow for some neat changeups on the ground when your opponent doesn't know what you're going to do when you short hop into the air.
Another mechanic I thought would be cool is instead of outright keeping or removing L-canceling, instead keep the mechanic but provide reasons NOT to L-cancel in a given situation. For example, an un-L-cancelled aerial could provide a few frames of super armor or an extra hitbox, or both. Who knows.
One other thing I thought might be possible would be having Z act as more than another A button in midair, and actually instead induce a midair grab. If you fell to the ground and the opponent had not broken out it would just become a normal grab state. But if you threw in midair, this would send your opponent in the direction you threw them, and you in the opposite direction.
Do you have any ideas for new mechanics?
