I have to say I'm disappointed about Lakitu not being 3d.
Yeah me too. I understand excitebike cause they haven't really made 3d excitebikes. But Lakitu has been 3d before and they were simply too lazy to make him 3d or ran out of space or something. :(

Whats the point of a video, of a bunch of text and images?

Why not just do a Screenshot, paste it into paint, and host it on imageshack?

Nice. Brings back old memories.

Plus the 8-bit renderings of the Excitebike and Lakitu don't take up much space on the Wii disc.
Mehhh, I doubt they're were down to that kind of memory crunch when they decided to release these Assist Trophies. They're just being kinda lazy.

Still though, good memories I guess. Wait, who am I kidding, I hated the level with the Lakitu! lol

Not worth a video. All Smash updates are cool, but this was definitely not worth a video. You should've done this for wifi-play and it'd be more appropriate.

However, it is worth punctuation.

Anyway, it's a cool update nonetheless.

Really there isn't anything wrong with the eight bit appearance really. The idea was to reminese on the past a little. After all that's what a majority of Smash Brothers is about, messing around and mixing franchises together. Besides back in the day Lakitu was the ferious thing in Super Mario Bros. The guy gave players a ense of urgeny when he started bombing ya with spiky turtles XD.

Actually I think there was a Excitebike that was in 3-D, Excitebike 64 the N64 and Excite Truck recently for the Wii.

He's a liar guys. He actually hacked smashbros.com to show the Excitebike AT and deleted today's update, which was supposed to be Fat Albert confirmed for Brawl.

The images are obviously fake!

lol well there's a time and a place for 8-bit pixelized art for nostaligia. There's like a million games now that reference the original Super Mario Bros. pixel art (Wario Ware [all 5 them], Paper Mario [all 3 of them], Tetris DS, Smash Bros. [all 3 of them], New Super Mario Bros., Old Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 64, Animal Crossing and moooore.) and I frankly didn't expect to see it on the battlefield of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Mind you, I expected an original Super Mario Bros. themed level, and maybe some stickers or trophies, but I dunno, it just looks annoying like this. I was kinda hoping to see them looking more like their New Super Mario Bros. appearances.

And it's not like we haven't seen Exitebike in 3D, Exitebike 64 and the Melee trophy for examples. But I guess there's plenty more pixel's to come so I might as well sit back and enjoy.

IMO, the 8 bit sprites will always be welcomed! The contrasts between the fully rendered bowser with the excite bike guys makes you think about how much things have changed in the last 20 years.

1) Excitebike did have a 3D incarnation on the N64: Excitebike 64.

2) The 8-bit AT's IMO are awesome - I highly appreciate Nintendo's acknowledgment of the old-school gamers out there (myself included), although I do agree with everyone here regarding Lakitu not being in 3D - I thought it would've been cool to be able to knock 'em out of his cloud and use it yourself. :) But in any event, I hope there are more 8-bit AT's on the way.
