New and Old Game Modes

Now, we already know that the 3DS version of the game is going to have a whole bunch of game modes, but we have barely heard any talk about any of them except for smash run. We also know about Trophy Rush, a completely new mode focused on collecting things by breaking boxes, as well as the fact that home run contest is returning will a few changes, but what about every thing else?

Well, if we take a look at the 3DS trailer, we start with something that appears to be the fiends cauldron from kid icarus uprising in the form of a scale, followed by what appears to be either a new classic option where you can pick who to fight, or what I personally believe to be a completely new mode. My reasoning is because, well, why would they change classic mode? It's meant to be classic. Secondly, we can see what appears to be a world map in the background. Also, the branching paths seem to be reminiscent of Find Mii 2 in streetpass.

Next, I would like to talk about a small clip where we see what appears to be multiman melee, but the new fighter is the Mii. Personally, I find it strange that a playable character is what you're fighting now. Yes, I know the movesets of the other faceless fighters(fighting polygon/ wire frame for clarification) were borrowed from existing characters, but at least they looked different. Now, this might be a bit of a stretch, but I think this might hint at being able to choose to fight previous faceless fighters.

Next up we have the team pie chart, which I can only guess means team preference by character. However, characters were generally grouped by the color that the are/ wearing. Finally, the last new thing we see is some kind of top down game. It actually reminds me of one of the minigames in Kirby Squeak Squad. Not much else I can say though.

Now that I've covered the new stuff, let's discuss the unannounced modes. I would like to begin with target smash. I strongly believe that we are getting unique character stages again because of the new difficulty select method. In brawl, all difficulty select(besides cpus) were that same, but with the new scale, it just wouldn't work right with target smash. However, due to the fact that would require unique stages for both versions, I think this mode will be a version exclusive. I would bet the Wii U version for the sake of more content.

Next up is All-Star mode. Not much to say here, we're just gonna have more characters, therefore making it harder. On the subject of not much to say, I'll cover all the small modes. Next is coin launcher. As much as I liked it, I belive Trophy Rush is the new trophy getter of the 3DS version. As for the Wii U version, can't really say. Finally, there is boss battles, but this will only return of there is an adventure mode with bosses so... :p.

Still one left to discuss, the one I have the most hope for, Stage Builder. Stage builder is something I want them to expand on immensely. I would like far more platform options, aesthetic options based on the various game series, the ability to insert certain enemies. I wouldn't even mind if it was version exclusive(Wii U preferably). But, that about wraps up all the modes, what do guys think? Please feel free to give any and all suggestions.

Maybe with Boss battles it can be changed to having to beat stage bosses if there are a few of them.

Yeah, that's what came to mind at first, but I feel they aren't grand enough for their own mode. Just look at how simple the yellow devil is.

Maybe he could get harder for Boss Battles ;)
Very true, very true. Maybe they could even give him a laser like in Mega Man Powered up. But then there is also the problem of the number of bosses. We currently know only two for absolute certain. Yellow Devil and Master hand. Probably someone in the pyrosphere stage and Crazy hand as well. So 4, but we don't even know how many stages will have bosses. The only thing I can tell is that it would be possible.

Well, since we know AT's are involved in all-star mode and you can interact with some of them now, I say All-star will have you fighting the AT's alongside the characters.

Well, as I pointed out, we may very well be getting one in the 3DS version. Of course,it would be fantastic of we got it on both versions, but we can only hope at this point.
