When you run towards a ledge and let go of the stick right before you hit the ledge, the lag that normally occurs when you stop running gets cancelled and you can dash in the opposite direction. That way, characters that don't maintain their full running speed after turning around while running (like fox) still turn around and maintain their full running speed. You can also just do any attack.

Is this already known? I haven't found anything in the smashwiki that's similar.

This is known as a teeter-cancel. You're using the teeter-cancel to dash out afterwards. Some top players started using this technology in 2015, I think I've seen Sfat and S2J use it. Kind of useful, good for regaining a dash dance when you're in a corner trying to re-take stage position.

It's also a really old school tech, that was used a bit in the ancient times, but was kind of overlooked/forgotten by newer gen players.
