I've noticed in Melee and PM that nobody intentionally uses the neutral air dodge (the one with no direction) and was wondering if you'd liked it to be replaced by brawl's counterpart.
Which might be pretty useful while recovering from above.

I think it might be too game changing but sounds interesting nevertheless.

The idea is certainly intriguing, but I'm not sure if it would be able to mesh well considering the largely different gameplay seen in Melee/ Brawl. Brawl is played more defensively in general, so it has an airdodge that reflects this through it's non-committal usage (retaining momentum, using multiple times etc).

Melee/ PM puts more emphasis on aggressive gameplay, so giving an option for multiple airdodges would conflict with this by rendering juggling/ combos out of hitstun non-existent. It would basically come down to timing your air dodge correctly as opposed to being smart with your DI, altogether giving a less satisfying, defensive feel to mid air combat in general.

Someone brings this up periodically. IIRC it's something the PMBR tried at one point, but it didn't work out well for a reason that slips my mind right now.

I get that, but l mean just change that air dodge. Meaning that the hitstun will remain and the character will free fall afterwards. And maybe lag a bit more while landing to balance out how safe it is in the air.

It was removed because it was found to be too exploitable with Melee's physics.

And before anyone says "wahh they only removed it because Melee, they should test it first", they DID. Hybrid air dodge was in original build of Project M and was removed after much playtesting and experimentation.

End topic, end discussion. We go through this same thing every few months and you're not gonna bring up a point that wasn't already discussed to death.
