Netplay Problems

Hello everyone
I recently got into smash, and wanted to setup netplay, however I am constantly running into problems. I've tried on both of my computers (a mac and a pc) but I keep running into the same problem.
Whenever I try to join/host a netplay game, and hit connect, dolphin simply doesn't load. It freezes, and I have to force quit it. The curious thing is that it has worked a couple of times, but the problem always returns.
I have followed setup guides, so my settings seem to be in order. Here they are anyways.
Enable dualcore, idleskipping, cheats: all checked
Dsp hle emu (fast)
Global melee netplay checked in ar codes

Advice would be appreciated

Does it run perfectly offline? Gotta make sure that works first

I would post this on the dolphin forums and see what they think

It's not a configuration issue, it's your connection. Some routers don't like the way dolphin opens a port for you and doesn't allow it. You should try these steps:

Create a firewall exception for Dolphin. Could be your firewall is blocking connection.

If that doesn't work, manually forward a port. Then host with your external ip address and port instead of through the traversal.

On 5886 you and your partner switch from traversal to direct, you give them your external ip address (whatsmyip.org) and the port you forward. On your end you check the forward port use upnp box and set the port to the one you forwarded. On 652 you switch to localhost (127.0.0.1 is not your ip address) in the Netplay lobby and they connect in this format.. ip:port. This bypassing relying on the traversal server to keep a port open for you.
