Stay away from HP. They are the shiniest, but you will have a horrible customer service experience if it ever needs repaired. I'd recommend the Asus stuff.

2 problems with that one:
1. It's HP. I JUST said, their customer service is by far the worst in the industry, and they WILL lie to you and steal from you if they are given the opportunity. Do not do business with them.
2. It only has 1 gb of RAM. I know that's common in netbooks, but it's not acceptable. That's enough to run Ubuntu on, if you are ok with leaving windows behind, but it's really not enough to expect XP to give you decent performance.

I will add on to what Dastrn said; the one time I've talked with Leo LaPorte when The Screen Savers was still cool and still on air (anyone else miss TechTV?) he said HP is the laughingstock of computer manufacturers, and nothing they do can wash away that label.

TSS was awesome :(
HP is a awful manufacturer

I have a HP mini here at work from someone (i work at an irt help desk) and i hate it. iv used a bunch and I'm not not fond of it at all. same with the dell minis.

The aspires arent bad, I almost bought one, thoguh I own and absolute love my eee pc 1000he. its amazing and perfect in everyway.

I can safely overclock this thing to almost 2ghz and up the gfx processor by 2.4x no prob. im running a dual boot of 7 and xp and it runs 7 amazing.

I already looked at the HP Mini that you posted, it's alright but the biggest thing that turns me off from it is the mouse clickers are on the sides of the trackpad and not the bottom...
I like this one better though
Go to bestbuy.com
and search 9579128
It's the SKU number and It'll take you right to the netbook.

EDIT: Also I am planning to definitely upgrade the RAM so don't worry

1GB of Ram will run XP fine. My XP desktop (Dell Dimension 8400) has 1GB of RAM and runs fine.

I'm upgrading it primarily because I want it to be fast + it has Win7 on it so I need the RAM
Win7 will need at least 2 gigs of RAM to run, and 3-4 is really much better, but let's face it, you're not getting a netbook with Win7 and 4 gigs of RAM for under $500.
Is anyone running Win7 with 2 GB of RAM that can attest to it's performance?
The only way I'll ever buy a computer with less than 4 GB of RAM is if it's an Ubuntu Netbook. Otherwise, I'll never do it. I don't like clicking on things and having no idea if the computer is working on opening the program or not.

Your so silly... Win7 min. requirements are 1 gig.... and I know 2 other people with netbooks that have 7 and 2 gigs and say it's great.
