I did some searching and didn't see much. He is not my best char by any means but he is fun to play. Is it 100% he is not in? I noticed he didn't get a char forums.

He hasn't been confirmed, people seem to think he has a fairly low chance of returning...

But he's from the original 12, plus he's the one Earthbound character recognised most across the world, personally I think Sakurai would be stupid to remove him, especially since his moveset looks different to Lucas' anyway (i.e. not clones)

No.

By the way, Ness isn't totally recognized around the world, his game didn't come out on Europe. And, EarthBound wasn't even that popular, he's mostly known in America because of Smash, so say, had we had Lucas since Smash 64, would you even care?

I do like Ness by the way, he's one of my favorite video game characters, along with Paula, and I will be sad if he goes, but Lucas is a great character too, at least it's not as if Ness is being replace by some random brat.

Chances are, Ness will be returning. Being one of the original 12 smashers, it's only natural if Ness is also in Brawl.

Well, since Mother is a fairly unknown series around the world (obviously it's popular in Japan, but) Ness is quite easily the most popular, maybe not in Japan, but Smash Bros has a huge fanbase, Ness has gained worldwide fame because of Smash Bros.

He was the "Who the hell are you?" character in SSB64, but in Melee he was returned into welcoming arms. It'd be a shame for him to miss out on a good Brawl. Lucas is a "who the hell are you?" character for Brawl, so it'd be nice for people to be able to relate him to someone ^^ (they look very similar, even though their games, Mother 2 & 3, aren't related as far as I'm aware)

In the original, he was a secret character. In Melee, he was made into a default character.
