NES Samus' eyes

Maybe you all have noticed this by now, but her original NES outfit (pink body suit with green hair) comes with eyes that have no sockets, so you can see right through them and into the background.

Interesting! I wonder if this was just an incomplete texture or perhaps Project M wanted to put in some little Easter egg for us to find.
