Need tips for doubles

I've been playing solo matches for years, but lately my friends and I have been dabbling things up with some dubs.
That being said the matches always look the same.

Our movements are sporadic, and when they aren't its because two 1v1's have ensued on the same stage. Its barely even a doubles match anymore at that point.

What kind of things make a good doubles team. There are times when we'll follow up with each other (finishing after a team grab) or help our partner get back on the stage, the simple things. Things that really aren't as much teamwork as they are just lending a hand in a 1v1.

So as a beginner doubler what are your tips?
Thanks errrrrrrybody! :falcon:

I can better advise you if you tell me the characters you usually use. A lot of doubles is about synergizing: Half knowing your partner, and half knowing how your characters can play off each other.

get used to your opponent's and how they recover. if you knock someone off stage, pretty far, but you think they have a good shot at getting back anyway, harass a little bit, then run over and create a 2v1 with your partner while the other guy recovers. this doesn't necessarily mean try to wombo combo up everything, but even something as simple as an agreement that you'll cover the tech options between you and your partner, and then he'll cover everything in place and in front of him is a huge deal.

also, always try to help out a partner being edgeguarded. if you guys play with the same partners consistently, you'll start to figure out when it's pointless and to let the other die, but until then, it's nice to help the other guy get back on by keeping the edgeguarder busy, whenever possible.

I agree, create 2v1 scenarios whenever it would benefit you, cover them when they're in trouble like if they're in a combo they can't get out of, things like that. Just make sure it doesn't open you up for a 2v1 scenario as well, just make sure that you have your teammates back and your own
