Need some troubleshooting when recording with a DVD recorder.

Okay, I hooked up my GC to my dvd recorder just fine, and it recorded to the dvd just fine. We've watched our battles on the dvd player many times, so the recordings came out fine. But whenever I stick the DVD into my computer's CD drive, it won't read anything on the disc. My CD drive supports dvds, and plays movies, but for some reason it says the disc is empty. Have I been recording in the wrong format on the dvd recorder? Only gives me the options for SP, LP, etc., which I thought just determined the quality of the recordings. Or is it my CD drive? Or do I need a program?

Have you tried getting a DVD ripper and watching the files from that?
