I'm entering a team tournament, and I'll be using Lucas. My teammate will be using Kirby. And advice for a Lucas-Kirby team? What should I focus on? What should my teammate focus on? All items will be on, stage selected at random, no bans. A large variety of characters will be used by the opponents.

Dude, in that environment, do the ******** things that make anyone reasonable ban items and bad stages. Camp in stages that provide natural cover, be the first to get to items, and kill them with final smashes. But expect a lot of random crap to happen to you as a result of such a horrible tournament rule-set.
On the plus side, there's no way anyone good would go to something like that. Sonic is good for getting items first and kills with his final smash just about every time.
So basically, there's a reason for the bans, exploit them to make the tourney director realize the idiocy of their rules.

Like Levitas said, abuse the rules and go for all the items, final smashes, camp for cover etc.
But for your characters, I'd suggest somebody other than Kirby. Marth and Ike go great with Lucas because you'll be able to spam PKF while your ally sits tight behind you waiting...
If you must have Kirby as an ally, gang on 1 person and you should be fine.
