I'm just starting to get into competitive battling and having some trouble figuring out what my team should be. Could you help me out with the following?

Pikachu @ Light Ball
252SP.ATK/252SPD/4???(Does it really matter?)
Thunderbolt
HP Ice
Grass Knot
Nasty Plot/Agility/Substitute

I'm a fan of Pikachu, not to mention my daughter loves Pika, so I want to use her. Pika can dish out some great damage, but cannot take any back, not to mention gets outspeeded by anything with a speed modifier. Any further advice on the use of this Pokemon?

Milotic @ Leftovers
252DEF/128SpATK/128SpDEF
Aqua Ring
Rest
Surf
Hypnosis

I heard Milotic can be used as a physical wall and in conjunction with A.Ring and Leftovers take a while to take down. Rest triggers Marvel Scale which boosts her DEF higher, and Surf to deal some damage in the meantime. I know this is a horrible Milotic, so help on her is appreciated as well.

I know Sableye has no weakness but has horrible stats. If I were to use this Pokemon though, how would you go about it? Physical Attacker or go for full defense to take advantage of the lack of weakness.

Thanks in advance.

If this is part of your team, or you're starting a RMT, you should post it in the RMT/RTP forums.

I think your Pika is ok, I just haven't used it yet. Your Milotic sounds interesting, but it only has Surf and can be countered by a Special Wall easily. You can run Lefties and Ice Beam, or the Rest/Talk combo.

Run Spiritomb. :D

Pikachu could always use Choice Specs or Wise Glasses

Milotic wants Ice Beam over Hypnosis

Spiritomb > Sableye. Sableye could be used as a semi-wall, though...
why the heck would pika use specs over light ball. u are a noob

milotic can have whatever the hell it wants. sheer power, or coverage

Make Milotic have Recover, Surf, Ice Beam and Toxic

Toxic and recover helps you outstall other stallers (unless it's a Blissey with aromatherapy).

Yea.. Pikachu sorta needs the lightball to be usefull at all.

You milotic needs a little more hp, and not so much special defense. Pikachu is hard to use, but i would probably use substitute. Force a switchout on something, sub, and then you get a free hit. Hes tough to use, though, because unlucky prediction is pretty much guaranteed to kill him.

Spiritomb is a prety good pokemon, hindered only by his low hp. And somewhat limited movepool.

Milotic needs near max defense and HP as well as 266 SpAtk (120 EVs) for the OHKO on Garchomp with Ice Beam. Either way, no matter how you look at it, Milotic is set up bait if you don't carry HP [Electric]. Hypnosis gets promptly Taunted and you're stuck Surfing a Gyarados while it DDs.

Spiritomb is nice, but often overspecialized unless you go Nasty Plot. Sucker Punch + Pursuit absolutely destroys Alakazam/Azelf and other hard hitting Psychics (Gardevoir will just cripple you with one of its statuses though) but serves little other purpose. This thing does survive SpecsMeteor and can Pain Split though. If you want a generic wall/spin blocker, Dusknoir would in many cases be a better option. Although being not weak to Pursuit rocks, so Spiritomb is by far from useless.

Btw that Pikachu's fine. Agility and Nasty Plot are pretty much impossible to pull off though, so you might as well go with Substitute or Encore.

Pikachu @ Light Orb
Hasty
252SPD/252SPATK/4HP
Thunderbolt
Grass Knot
HP Ice
Substitute
High speed since I won't use modifiers to try to outspeed the competition. Sub to cover my attacks. Would Pika be better suited as a revenge killer or a lead?

Milotic @ Leftovers
Modest
252HP/128SPATK/128SPD
Toxic
Aqua Ring
Ice Beam
HP (Electric)
Toxic to whittle down and force a switch, giving my Aqua ring/Leftovers a free turn to heal some damage. Ice Beam for the popular Garchomp and Salamence, and electric to hurt the popular Gyrados.

A few new questions arise, however.

1) What are some of the basic strategies used for Vaporeon and Gardevoir? I know Vap is a good defensive type and can use the SleeperSweeper nicely.

2) How good / worth it are Spikes/Toxic Spikes? I like that style but if it seems mostly a waste of time then I won't worry with it. I could also combine it with Stealth rock for more switch damage as well, couldn't I? Also, switching out foes with Toxic Spikes would flag the "No Double Ailment" rule, wouldn't it?

3) Leech Seed is a favorite attack of mine. Are there any good Pokemon that can run it semi-effectively or in tandem with other attacks to maximize effects?

Thanks again.

1. Vaporeon is used to pass those giant substitutes and support the team with Wish. Also used to counter Gyarados if it has HP [Electric] and dragons if it has Ice Beam because of its ability to take hits well and dish them back hhard too. Toxic is also an option to screw over other bulky waters. Gardevoir is usually not used as a pure sweeper, as if that was what you're looking for, Alakazam and Azelf hit harder. Gardevoir, however, has a large support movepool that involves Hypnosis, Will 'o Wisp, Thunder Wave, Wish, Destiny Bond, and even Memento, Mean Look, Healing Wish, or Grudge for some fun. More importantly, it actually has the defenses to use these moves. So if you're looking for a hard hitting special Pokemon that can take special hits very well while supporting the team overall, pick Gardevoir :)

2. Toxic Spikes often aren't used unless you have some sort of a strategy in mind. Spikes and Stealth Rock are nice when combined because Stealth Rock covers what Spikes can't reach.

3. Popular leech seeders are Sceptile, Breloom, and Jumpluff.

Well, this answered all the questions except about Sableye (except for using Spiritomb.) Thanks alot and I'll probably be posting a RMT pretty soon.
Yeah, Sableye is unquestionably underpowered...It has great type coverage in its moves and its own type...

Sableye, as little as it is used, is usually an annoyer--meaning that its arsenal consist of Support moves like Toxic, Substitute, and the works, plus an attack move...
--------------------
Annoyer Sableye : Strategy - Annoy the crap out of folks...
@ Leftovers @ Keen Eye
Sassy Nature / EV - 252 HP, 152 Def, 106 SpDf

-Payback/Faint Attack/Dark Pulse/Night Shade/Shadow Ball/etc.
-Substitute
-Will-o-Wisp
-Confuse Ray
--------------------

But seriously, Sableye is too weak to be used extremely well, so stick with Spiritomb if you want something with no weaknesses...
