Need help with Xbox 360 Controller

Me and my friend are having this problem. We are using Xbox 360 controllers (with USB Port) and we have the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller Software thingy downloaded. Project 64k

It seems we are only able to play as the host (Player 1), the Player 2 Slot does not work for us....

Anyone know what to do to fix this?

we need more detail, are you playing on the same pc? or online?
if you are playing online, both players need to be on player 1 on their respective emulator.

sorry, we are playing online with the Project64k emulator on different pcs

then do as i said, both in his emu, set your controller as player 1, and when you connect, it will auto assign you to the proper control.
