When I try to finish people with reverse dolphin slash the trajectory seems off. Instead of nearly perfectly horizontal like in the videos, they go up at about a 50 degree angle. Im fairly certain i got the sweet spot because they still go flying but they dont quite die.

Yes i have used search plz no flaming...

You need to use the diagonal Dolphin slash for horizontal distance.
Marth's Up-B is exactly like Roy's in terms of the control stick altering its trajectory, its just not as pronounced. When you Dolphin slash, you need to have a diagonal influence on your attack, you'll be able to tell if you did it right by noting how high and far horizontally you go (its a wee bit trickier on the reverse, but the principal is exactly the same, you need to hit the angle before you turn around).

1) You're not hitting with the sweetspot which is just in front of Marth. You are too close.

2) Your opponent knows how to DI.
