I have installed homebrew using letter bomb. I downloaded gecko from the homebrew browser. I downloaded the homebrew version of project M from their website, I extracted the files and move them to the root of my external hdd.

I Load up homebrew , and then gecko, with ssbb disk in my wii.... and it just load up the normal game.... what did I do wrong ?

Also no I don't want to use the hackless method, as I need my sd card for my phone, I wish to play mode games, using my external hdd

I don't think one is able to load Project M via USB and Brawl/Ocarina codes/VBI hook. You need an SD card for that. You would need an standalone Project M ISO in order to not use an SD card entirely.
