Need help with improvement

Hey all, I'm currently a falco main who's been really struggling lately with improvement. I started playing melee a lot after last apex where I decided I wanted to get into the scene more. I got netplay and started to see rapid improvement in my play; the only problem was that when I went to locals, I couldn't translate what I could do on netplay to a CRT (i'm assuming I was used to the buffer or the input lag because I was using the incorrect driver). So, my friend gave me a CRT that he was throwing out, and I started practicing on there and getting decent on that.

Unfortunately now, I'm at school where there's no melee tournaments in the area. All they do here is PM and Smash 4. I found a group of kids at school to play against, but I'm considerably better than all of them (3-4 stocking them almost every game). I tried to play netplay again the other day, and now I can't seem to translate my tech skill to netplay and end up losing games to people I should lose to because of random tech flubs that never happen when I play on a crt. Do any of you have any advice on how to improve from here? Naturally, I'd rather be good on CRT's because I want to perform well in tournaments. I feel like my tech skill is good enough (for my level for now), but my neutral game is lacking a lot and it's hard to improve my neutral game when the people I play all have a worse neutral game than I do.

Find the people that seem to like the game the most and see if they're willing to learn. You could create the melee scene yourself eventually.

This is what my friends and I had to do in Peterborough and now we have quite a scene here :)

Try doin a time chamber. literally set an extensive amount of time for yourself to sit in the lab. I do that from time to time.

ehhhh... I wouldn't really recommend that. Practicing tech for too long can be tiresome, and you start to get diminishing returns if you do too much in one sitting. Additionally, you can easily face burn-out and lose motivation. When you stop having fun and start getting bored, its best to put the controller down and come back later.

Even if they're markedly worse than you, you can definitely learn from the other players. And here's this PP post on solo practice that I always link people.

Play PM with them. They'll get better quickly from playing an opponent who's much better than them. Fighting human opponents will help teach you the strategic aspect of the game. Playing with them will help support a Smash scene. Maybe 1 of them might try out Melee sometime
