Smash Journeyman
I have been playing with falco for a little while now, and im finally feeling like my game is coming around with him. My play against Doc is pretty rough though. First off, i understand the advanced techs, and I pretty much try to l-cancel/WL everytime i hit the ground, but i am REALLY struggling with falcos' dair l-cancel...I can do it just fine when i hit someone, OR when i miss, but when i hit a shield, 4 out of 5 times i miss the l-cancel, and get grabbed before I can pull the shine out.
My buddy plays very defensively, he loves to shield grab, and most of the time this isnt a big problem for me b/c i will use good move spacing/placement, and only get shield grabbed a few times. But when he is Doc, I sometimes get grabbed near edge, and here is where it gets dirty. I try to switch it up between upb and overb for recovery against doc, mainly because im not sure WHAT to do. If i illusion to the side, then he is pretty good with Doc's bair, and then I am forced to use upb from BELOW the stage, and I usually get caped. So i will switch it up sometimes, and try to go for upb when im above the stage, and just go over him (what i do when i use fox), but b/c Falcos' upb is shorter than foxes, I get into trouble with this as well.
I use shl with falco (to an extent, still practicing different approaches with it), but against Doc, he will just sit back and cape until I come near. So if he is hanging out at edge, I can not just hang back and SHL until he attacks (i guess I COULD just sit there, but thats not the advice nor the play style that i want).
So I guess my big questions are: 1. Any advice on timing with l-cancel dair -> shine (this is my biggest problem, but i understand that practice is whats going to really count)
2. WTF should i do with recovery against a pretty good edge guarding Doc? The freakin 35% deaths are REALLY making me unhappy.
Thanks guys
EDIT: I got some good advice from another thread on my dair l-cancel problem, so really im just looking for advice on fighting Doc, and on coming back against Doc. Thanks
