Hey everyone. I've played brawl, and although it has some features I like, I want to get back to melee.

Now I've been trying to get some moves down with falcon, but some stuff just doesent work for me

Short hopping (I think this is just a pressure problem for me)
Short hop Dair and Nair and Fair (I cant get the timing down)
Wavedashing, I can kinda get it, but its not all to great.

I was wondering if anyone had some tips, and if you could throw some advice on some other things i would need to master

Im not going into competitions, I just want to be better then my group of friends who also play melee.

Thanks!

It's just really practice. Nobody can really hold your hand while you play and press the buttons for you, find out what works for you. X or Y to jump? R or L to wavedash? Just don't get de-motivated because your friends are far ahead of you in melee. Trust me the better you get at melee the more you'll want it.

Also read some stickys in the melee section theres some old '04 '05 stuff on learning I'll get the thread in a sec.

I know it's a long read, but you'll learn so much more in one melee guide then all the brawl ones combined.

To actually practice it go to training mode and put a Proximity Mine on the ledge and Up-B into it. It helps getting timing down.

halcyon.days, this is a great way to get started, but also be aware that there are moves that have less hitstun than mines and therefore require slightly more precise timing on the SDI (marth dtilt).

Oh, I already knew about this "trick", and the fact that the mines have a huge amount of hitstun compared to almost every move.

Thank anyways.

When you tell someone "Do go on" when referring to a particular subject, realize that someone oblivious to the caliber of your skill level may attempt to help you.
