Need help identifying a tech

So I have been looking at some videos and noticed something that nearly all the good Marths do at one point or another and I was wondering if anyone could help me identify what it is and how it is done?

This video I am sure many of you have seen between Neo and Plank and the best example of this tech is at 4:02-4:03 in which Neo does a SH fair and then draws his character back and fastfalls at the end. Now I have figured out how to do the fastfall part after a SH fair, and I can draw my character back slightly after the fair by just pushing back on the analog stick. However, what I can't figure out is how Neo is able to pull his character back so much farther than I can.

I have tryed everything I could think of and looked all over the boards in hopes of finding a way to do this, but nothing has turned up. Can anyone identify what this is and explain how exactly it is done with the gamecube controle, or at least give me a link to somewhere that explains what it is and how to do it?

its actually really simple. you jump and fair but you DI back. and he probably SDI'd back. so while he was using his fair he was DI;ing back. he briefly let go of the control stick and then DI'd back again. increasing the effect of the DI.

You SH F-air, you retreat away using your control stick, you Fast fall. When Marth does the F-air he will retract his sword afterwords and this is when you fast fall. If you're having trouble doing retreating aerials with your A button use the C-stick.

This is standard Marth Fairing. Though to be fair he probably revolutionized it like so.
