Need help, game launches but freezes

Hey, so I downloaded project M ver. 3.2 hackless non-Wi-Fi. So I do everything right and go to the stage builder, and the launcher activates. So I click play and the game launches. So when I pues start the menu still looks the same as brawl. So I think nothing of it. Then I click battle and brawl, so everything is normal like brawl except as soon as I'm about to select a character the game freezes. Idk what's wrong and could really use advise. Thanks
