Hey guys,

I want to start off by apologizing for not being able to scout the forums for an earlier post on any N64 controller adapters for PC due to my lack of time involving exams and such.

I wanted to know what this community thinks about the adapters out there and which, if any, are best.

Theres been mixed reviews about the: May Flash N64 Controller Adapter for PC USB
saying that it made the controller less responsive, among other positive reviews.

What are your thoughts? Is it best to go with one of those N64 USB controllers, or the adapter? I really like the look and feel of the orginal controller, and using a PS3 or xBox controller just won't cut it for me. I was really excited by the fact that an N64 controller could be adapted to work on a computer. I know I'm a little late to the scene, but i'd love to test out my SSB skills online, and even in competitive play.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to hearing from you.

TLDR; Is the May Flash N64 Controller Adapter for PC USB worth it?

I tried to search for range and deadzone, but couldn't find anything useful on recommended settings.

Anyone with the raphnet adapter have range/deadzone recommendations? I've been messing around with the settings and can't seem to find a good combination to be able to dash dance continuosly or for at least a half decent amount of time. KnitePhox recommended between 5-10% deadzone and 80?-100% for range but I can't seem to find the right one. The controller I have was barely used from its previous owner and I even greased up the joystick to reduce friction. Any help would be appreciated.

calibrate controller in windows

deadzone 0-1%

range 75ish

If you can't dash dance consistently, have problems doing quick movements, or stick problems in general after putting these settings, then it could most likely be the adapter itself. Emailing raphnet about your problem will be a fairly painless process if you're having stick problems with the adapter itself(non-hori).

Worked excellent! Thank you superboom! 80 Range and 1% deadzone works just like my console, I really appreciate the insanely quick reply. Barely 20 minutes. Thanks again!

I'm thinking about getting the raphnet GC/N64 adapter, and was wondering if anyone knows if it's any good?

...Well I played with all 3 for about an hour, and they felt different at first, then gradually all felt similar.

I usually like the feel of the Raphnet better, but my hands started to warm up and I think it desensitized me to the small details in feel. All I know is that the Mayflash C Buttons are mapped to Z axes, instead of buttons.

Console was the most responsive of all 3; shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

he new raphnet adapter is amazing(i have a old and new 64+gc), im going to start recommending it. the new one no longer has the dash dance issues from the old one, it was fixed. i'd say it's near perfect, but i don't know about hori's or 3rd party controllers.

i own a boom adapter and that one has worked perfectly fine for me since i got it in 06, maybe i just have gotten used to it, but it's no longer commonly sold, not a good recommendation vs mayflash.

the mayflash's jumps feel a bit off(if you're technical) but u get used to it quickly

all three are pretty good and considering the price and availability, mayflash is actually a really good adapter, so long as you don't get frustrated setting up the C buttons in windows controller calibration

(fastest way to get to controller calibration in windows: hold windows key then press R, let go of windows key and r, then type "joy.cpl" with no quotes and press enter. PWN. works with win xp/vista/7 -dunno bout 8 yet, ill ask a buddy)

holy sheeet, with some googling, i made a batch file that opens calibration menu AKA double click this and calibration tool opens up

if you are unsure about batch files, right click and click "EDIT" to see the contents before launching(DOUBLE CLICKING) it.

TL;DR, how to fast calibration on any windows: download and double click THIS batch file i JUST made this while editing this post rofl.
