Thank Spadefox, whose thread inspired me to write this.

This is also long, and I'm posting this mostly just to have record of it. But please, spare a second to read. If you find it boring, stop reading, but the end is worth it. I don't expect you to read this, but anyway.

This story starts in Melee, but so your eyes don't explode as opposed to just bleeding, I'll start at the beginning of Brawl.

I stopped playing smash after seven years of Melee, but several friends brought it back. The so-called best player in my school was a friend here on smashboards, and unless I'm mistaken, introduced me to SWF. Brawl was coming out, and instead of starting to wavedash and L-cancel, which I'd never heard of, just waited for Brawl (Funny, I'm actually thinking about going back to Melee for funsies).

I practiced Melee with a buddy to get the smash in my veins again, someone called Joker11 (on SWF). He's not bad, he needs more practice. We talked about Brawl, noting characters we were excited about using. I said I'd probably main Wolf, because Fox was never my cup of tea. When release came around, everyone got it but Joker11 and I (I had Brawl, but let relatives borrow the Wii). I ended up maining Toon Link [when I got the Wii back], saying Wolf was a ridiculous ******* with his weird-*** recovery. xD Needless to say, I proceeded to practice.

Then, we all gathered nine people in our large group, we played Brawl, and I came out second, losing to the so-called best, VwBF. We were both referred to as gods, but I lost, got two-stocked.

He used Sonic, and I used Toon Link. It was that day that I learned I hate Toon Link. He wasn't my style, and I was mistaken. I resorted back to Fox (I started with Toon Link at first, because I love Link - TL was my chance at maining a 'Link', because I don't like original).

Anyway, to speed this story up, all through March to around October/November, we continued playing, our mains changed, and our group narrowed down to what we liked to call The Reaper's Fear, a crew. Yeah, we suck, laugh at our attempt to be cool, because the group declined to accept the crew title (we suck in comparison to the pros, and everyone keeps saying they hate the game [which is dumb because we keep playing it]). Now, it's Jroc, VwBF, Joker11, Kuro and I. (I'd like to note Crownvicks and Hands as honorable mentions, albeit they never hung out a lot).

At one point, I beat VwBF's sonic. Jroc was also pretty good (we defeat each other on and off, it's annoying). Then, the best thing that ever happened to me in smash occurred: I mained Wolf.

Fox bored me, and Wolf's style was appealing. But VwBF mained Snake afterwards because Jroc did something (I dun remember, it's not important). Snake, being high-tier, me, being a dumb***, I lost. This occurred somewhere in the early summer. After a long while, I matched his Snake evenly. But, I had to stop playing Brawl, and went on vacation.

I came back, and again, VwBF was beating me. I lost my skill, or he got better, who knows?

It was here that I quit Brawl. I was tired of the game (too much Brawl in excessive doses leads to diarrhea, vomiting, bloating, cancer, etc) and honestly thought that I had better spend my time on my writing (I'm aiming to be a successful writer). That drought of smash was short-lived, and I came back to Brawl. This was around November or October, I can't remember. There was an awkwardness around VwBF and I: we never played the other for nearly four months to this day.

Before I finally played him again, I went to my first tourney, Brawl at the Mall, MD. I played several people, including B8RPE, Orion, TKO, etc. But I finally lost to HAT, a 'Pro', I hear (Candy would've been after him had I won). He used Kirby and revealed to me the little pink guy's chain grab on Wolf. Needless to say, I was heartbroken in a happy way ("Is Asaph on drugs!?"). I was happy to have been beaten, cause I learned a lot. You can check the results

Sometimes after having a break/quitting, you are better than before >:)
I can`t really relate to a Wolf mainer lol. Link is fun to me because he`s
slidy and has a lot of techs and cool attacks. I`m trying to improve with him
and have been training for about 3 weeks straight, and hoping to do tourneys
someday. It would be amazing to me to do well in a tournament with Link.

I hope you do well with Link. Deva beat DSF once, although it was a MM.

Just play a lot of different people, but know that Tourneys are actually the best place to train. The experience it gives you is so worth it. It's also very fun.
