For all of you who have played Mario Strikers Charged for the Nintendo Wii, you have found that when playing online you automatically get all of the characters. My question for everyone is do you think Brawl will also have all characters online even if they have not been unlocked to make it even like in Strikers, or do you think that the characters unlocked will be according to your personal game???
Give your opinion please and an explanation on why you think it!
To Finish,
Geno will rule the world one day.....

Big, spooky castle in eastern europe.
From my perspective, it would make the most sense to not be able to use locked characters in Online play. However, you should be able to encounter a secret character if your opponent has unlocked it and uses it.

But Nintendo might just do what it did for MSC. Then again, these are two different development teams, so who knows?

I think that this thread is just like all the others with the same question, TRASH.
It's a valid question. If we can't speculate on Brawl, what are we doing here in the first place?

Though MSC might do that, keep in mind that while there are some differences in the characters, they all operate in very similar ways. Not so much in Brawl.

Think MK:DS. You can see someone using ROB, but unless you unlocked him, you can't.

I'm not saying you can't specualate. But what I am saying that there shouldn't be thousands of threads on the same question.

That's an interesting question. Maybe you won't be automatically paired up with people who are using a character you don't have. Likewise, you probably cannot play on a stage that you haven't unlocked. If there are locked costumes, you might not see your opponent in the same costume that they think that they are wearing, if they have a locked one.

Presumably, they can solve most of these conflicts by pairing you up with someone such that there is no conflict.

Who knows. But I'm guessing you can play against locked characters but not as them until you unlock them yourself.

I HIGHLY doubt that. It would be a waste for Sakurai to build up this much hype just to leave it out in the open. When you think about it, you wouldn't even need to play the events or SSE to earn characters, just play online.

I was thinking about this the other day.

My guess: Online play will be locked until you get all the characters. Then this problem would be avoided altogether, and it would give people even MORE incentive to unlock things.

The problem? People will be pissed. But oh well.
