Earth...:/
I'm surprised this topic isn't in here at all! :/ Oh well. Anyways, I'm curious to know what everyone's favorite pokemon game was. With my friends, the general vote was Silver, which I would have to agree with. (Oddly, none of them liked Gold, which I thought was strange, since the differences were small. :/) For me, it's a tie between Silver and Crystal. Here's why.

R/B/Y/G, for you JP gamers! : While they were the first ones, looking back, they were pretty basic. They were the fuse of the full firework that was Pokemon. Granted they are fantastic, just in a different way. A classic way. And of course, didn't we all have a love/hate relationship with Missingno.? :chuckle: Regardless, these are big time on nostolga with me, so they'll always be cool.

G/S/C: Ah, yes. Pokemon in full bloom. They took the kiddie ride that was RBY, and made them a roller coaster. Who doesn't have fond memories of this set? There was just the right amount of Pokemon, and everything was so new and shiny. These will ALWAYS be my favorites. Berries, 100 new Pokemon, Dark and Steel, TWO regions, Time of day, pokegear, Actually cool rival, continuing storyline, apricorns, <3 the music, and just overall neatness. These games rocked my socks.

R/S/E: Sadly, I have actually come to realize I despised this series. It robbed G/S/C of so much. It was the game that seperated all the past games, from the ones we have now. R/S had pathetic pokedex's, capable of storing 200 types. The storyline was bad... I couldn't stand Magma/Aqua. Rocket was at least intriguing. No night or morning...What were they thinking? :/ ONE region, no continuing storyline, and only two pokemon, Wynaut and Azurill, were related to older Pokemon, and the new ones really weren't all that cool anyway. Not to mention, this is when Misty left on TV. I hated the battle frontier, because it seemed like a pointless waste of time. :/ And the contests were too annoying to deal with, at least IMO. Sorry, to anyone who liked these, but to me, this was a bad point in Pokemon. :/

FR/LG: Somewhat redeeming over the RSE, but not much. I personally hate remakes. Whether it be a movie, TV show, or in this case, video game, I'm usually leery. Sevii was cool, but more or less an additonal trinket to the storyline. This was a balanced game, but certainly nothing to get excited about.

Coluseum/XD: I liked that these were on the gamecube. I thought the story was decent, and such, but my only thing was that once all the shadow pokemon were cleansed, it was like..."Now what?" :/. Graphics were cool, towns were neat, and hey, a new region. But still, there needed to be more.

D/P: This was no G/S/C, but it came pretty darn close. They hammered out everything I hated about RSE, and made this a well rounded game. It's captivating, the Pokemon are related to old ones, contests are fun and interactive now, Day and Night return! <3 This was just a really neat series. The bad guys actually seemed like bad guys. They were cold and ruthless, which was nice. My only criticism is this: Way too many Pokemon. 493 is insane. They need to stop here. If they continue, everyone will want more pokemon, but they only can put so many in a game, and eventually, do you want to keep catching the same ones, over and over? It would become monotinous.

I've always wanted to see Pokemon Orange, based off of...guess where? The orange islands!
I always thought that would be cool. Ok, well, I'm done. These are my reviews, and now I want to hear your comments. What was your favorite game? Do you agree or disagree with me? Do you have a review? I'm listening! :]

Hmmmmmmm.
Interesting thread.
Okay, I'm up for a shot.

Red/Blue/yellow:
I have such found memories of when I got this game. It was the late 90's, and the game had been going around for a year or two, and all my friends had it, so my brother and I got a 2 gamboys, yellow, and a link cable.
We stayed up to like, 12 (Which was late for us then, we were young kids) just playing endlessly!
"Tim, CATCH THE MANKY LIKE ASH!!"
"Wow! A Pidgy!"
Man I loved that.
These games were Gems. (You should say that about Ruby and sapphire really)
The Game play was intriguing, intelligent, strategic, and the poke'mon were great. Loved it. Always will. Except for the Pikachu in Yellow. I recall attempting to leave it behind, murder it, and give it away many times.
Its always where the tradition of calling the Pidgey Esq. poke’mon “Pie”.

Gold/Silver/Crystal.
This was the big one for me. I got Gold, hoping for another GREAT ride into Poke-world. And MAN did I get it! The poke'mon were clearly at there most creative, the day and night feature was a nice feeling of being part of the world, and the great battles with my rival "STUU" (Shut up, I was little, and didn't know much) I'll never forget my team.
Oh, and my Ditto (Poo), which never left the daycare.
Team rocket annoyed me a bit though, sure, they took tails of slowpokes, and that’s animal cruelty, but they didn't KILL anyone. "Rebels".

Ruby/Sapphire:
I'm gonna say these entries to the series weren’t as strong as they could have been. No day night, Team Magma sh*t me, and the poke'mon looked, at times, ********. And often to similar to Gen 1 beasties. Maybe I’m being too harsh though. I mean, I did spend over 400 hours on the game. It’s great, but not as good as Gold.
Also, I hated my enemy, may. She was annoying.
‘Nuff said.

Diamond/Pearl:
I’m now 15, nearly 16, and yes, I STILL desperately needed Diamond to sustain my life.
I'm still currently engaged in this game, and up to the league. (Australia only got the game out last week) and I can say, there great. Though, once again, the Poke'mon seems somewhat...unimaginative? Starly=Pidgy, as far as I’m concerned.
But still, the day night came back, which was defiantly a turn for the better, bringing a new depth to the game, which was previous, CALOUSLY kicked from Ruby/Sapphire, and, as you stated, Team galactic surprised me, they were almost evil.

In conclusion, I feel Gold was the best.
Most creative, most entertaining, and best villain. (STUU)
Just a GOLDEN (Sorry, I had too) game!

G/R/B
Were the first games in the series, and in my my opinion, the best. Why?, well for one it kickstarted the Pokemon series we all know and love, and 2, it was very inovative, catching 150 different monsters then choosing 6 to battle with, actually made RPG's fun to play, and gave hardcore RPG players a totaly new experience. And finally, multi-player. It gave almost infinite replay value, as people still play G/R/B as their main game more than 10 years after being released. And my favorite for being such a classic, and most original.

G/S/C
although many critics regard this as the best pokemon game to date, i disagree, as this game added many annoynces ingame, the day/night/weekly cycle made it a pain to catch certain pokemon you wanted (and cut the save battery life in half). And breeding came in as new game staple, which also introduced baby pokemon, the most useless thing to possbly have in your party. It did have good graphics, and hold items(plus the "special" split) gave battling much more stratigy, and for those who missed the old region, you were able to return to the now named "Kanto" region which added much more replay value.

R/S/E
And here we have the weakest game.... why?, natures. Though they did give the pokemon more personality, they also affected battle, meaning you hade to aquire the one with a perfect nature, or else it was "useless" for competitve battilng. EVs & IV's are also the biggest nuisence i have ever delt with, now leveling up to 100 does'nt matter anymore, you have EV train aswell. The high points?, well the graphics get another overhaul, so they looked nice, and the story was great!, now you have one team trying to stop the other from awakening the version-spesific legend!. to bad there's very little replay value ingame, and good luck trying to find someone with a GBA-link cable & pokemon... and the contests do not help, they just made the game even worse....

D/P/?
This is the game that practicly turned pokemon into a net-battling(trading) MMORPG with Wi-Fi, whitch is great that you can easily forget the forgetable story, which is a rehash of the previous game. Aside from Wi-Fi, the best thing about this game is the attack split!, yay!!!. I'll admit, though shallow, the Wi-Fi, and attack split was enough to call this game the second best. Now... just how is gamefreak going to come up with another game?.

RBY: The games that started it all. For me it began when I was still in elementary school and I've played through my copies of Blue and Yellow many times. Basically the only generation in which I did a lot of battling and trading with real life friends. Near the end of it I also got into online battling on PBS which improved my game heaps. Competitive battling had some balance problems typewise and was pretty basic, but it's still solid. The GBC Pokémon TCG game was also fun to play, too bad the sequel was Japan only. I also enjoyed Pokémon Pinball, the rumble feature was awesome.

GSC: Best single player adventure Pokémon ever had, I got and played through both Gold and Silver. Not only did we get Johto and 100 new Pokémon (getting new Pokémon was actually very exciting back then), we also got to visit Kanto again and fight older versions of RBY's gym leaders. The whole atmosphere was really great and some great new additions were made (two new types, held items, day/night). I've played online a lot on mIRC's GSBot and had lots of fun with it. Looking back, I do have to say the metagame was the most uninspired one with Blissey, Curselax etc on about every team. The GSC generation Pokémon as a whole are also the worst ironically. Pokémon Puzzle Challenge for GBC was also quite fun to play.

RSE: Ruby's single player adventure was okay, nothing special. Competitive battling became fast-paced again like in RBY and there was much more room for customizing stats because of Natures and EVs, which really made me enjoy online play on NetBattle. I also felt more stuff had a chance of working, so I really had fun trying out lots of teams and tweaking them to perfection. I also got Leaf Green and played through it for nostalgia's sake, it was still good. Pokémon Pinball RS was okay, nothing new. On a sidenote, I recently played a hacked ROM of Emerald that had all 386 Pokémon available in it, which was more fun than I expected.

DP: While Diamond's single player adventure was a step up from RSE's, it hardly had anything new to offer. The changes made to the actual battling, with moves and not types deciding whether a move is physical or special, are quite interesting. In the end, not much has changed though, the basic concept is that powerful. I haven't battled others much yet, and I'm not really sure how far I'll go with this yet. This is also the first generation where I don't really feel like "catching 'em all" anymore, I've done it too often already. I've also never really forgiven Nintendo for not being able to transfer GB Pokémon to GBA and DS.

As for the console Pokémon games, I really enjoyed both Stadium games for N64. Pokémon Snap was fun while it lasted, too bad they never made a sequel. Colosseum was a bit disappointing, though still enjoyable.
