My idea for a different kind of tournament

So what if there was a tournament but you could only pick a certain character? I love Falco so we'll use him as an example. Now imagine a tournament where you can only play as Falco and think about what would happen. Imagine all the Falco mains who will go, not just so that they can win it but so that they can prove they're the best Falco player. Matches would be incredible displays of skill with the character and in addition to being entertaining it could teach other players more about how to play Falco. Of course this kind of tournament could happen with any other characters and I'm sure it would be just as awesome. How would guys feel about seeing a tournament like this?

Haha I wouldn't mind it, it would be fun! Although, that type of tournament would only test your skills against the matchup of your own character, and nothing else. So you would be the best at besting Falco only, not the best falco who can best any character.

Also, there are two types of smashers. One that likes dittos, and one that despises dittos.

Pretty good point. I guess to be the best Falco you have to be better at more than just fighting Falcos.

There was the Falcon round robin at The Next Episode back in 2014. All of the matches are on YouTube, you've probably seen clips from it if you watch GRSmash.

These kinds of things do happen, but it's usually just a local thing. It is awesome.
