Timeing. If you know hes gonna spot dodge than dashdance into em and just sit there and watch em spotdodge, then hit him when hes vulnerable. Double EdgeDance might work too, I woulda never thought of that even tho its obvious.

I'd suggest, whenever you have an opening, to run up to them and shield. When the spot dodge ends, just do a shield grab.

spot dodging isn't that big of a deal. If you short-hop nair, the second hit will connect and knock the living crap out of hiss n00b a$$ making you once more the king of your friends.

isnt it called side stepping???????????????
Anyways
If your fox and you know there about to spotdodge(sidestep)this is what you do.
First run up to him then charge a jump cancel up smash and wait for him to spot dodge and then release BAMMMMM! OUCH!!! THAT HURTS!

Dancing blade is actually a very good anti-spotdoge attack. I started using it on my friend, who sometimes likes to abuse spotdodging, and it made HIM have to re-think his whole strategy.

You'll probably miss the first slash, and the second and third will hit. The knockback is pretty nice too.

I like to do a run cancelled fsmash. I'll run to and past him will he dodges and when I'm on the other side I'll run cancel and fsmash behind me. Me running past him usually is enough time for the sidestep to end

lol to me i think of it as ure opponent giving u an oppurtunity for u to give him a free shot of whatever u want lol.....

i have a friend like that i usually grab him out of it... u literally jus wait... jus run up to him wait for it then do u and combo or whatever ... make him look silly and reverse dolphin slash him or sumthin lol:D

if u dunno i sometimes try to run cancel a d-tilt and if they side step it i grab them or fsmash them but yea its really ez actually to abuse these type of players personally i would LOVE to see these type of players in tourney if they r too stubborn its like an auto win for u

just wait a little bit like when u would normally attack wait an extra moment... eventually u would get used to it and will realize how bad of an idea it is to side step so often

Be greatful that your friend does this. It only means you can punish him more easily. If he spot dodges, learn at which times he does this. Then approach, DONT ATTACK, *He spotdodges*, You wait, You punish. Easy as that.

what ken often did is dash past someone, he side steps, then turn around and pivot grab

Watch him dodge. Do an attack that either lasts longer than his dodge, or time it to hit after the dodge. By "longer" I mean the hitbox is out for a longer time. Good example of this is GW's f-tilt (chair) which lasts longer than most characters' dodges. But since you probably play Marth, most of your attacks are faster, so back up a bit, wait for his dodge, and tipper the sucker when he's no longer invincible. Takes a while to get used to the timing, but once you do, he probably won't be spot dodging too much anymore... :p

If he really does obsessively spot dodge a lot.. then just watch him spot dodge and just stand there. It'll make him look like an idiot and he has to stop eventually :p

I have a friend who does the same thing. It took me a couple of weeks to figure out his pattern and now even he feels stupid when I catch him with a grab after a spot dodge.

Many inexperienced players like to spot dodge when it's obvious that they "should," (although you should never think that you have to) such as after a missed grab or a laggy attack into a shield. Everyone has a distinct pattern in addition to this, so just pay attention and you'll make him look like a fool in no time.

Which dancing blade would be the best option? Like doing the normal one, doing up, or down. Or anyone of them would be good?

Bleh.. Dancing Blade to counter spot dodge is wierd.. You should just wait for the spot dodge, then grab or attack. Or, like metroid said, reverse Up+B :)
