I had this written for a while but never got my way around posting it. So i decided to post it today and add a few more thing on there.
Well Here is my one month experience with playing Smash Bros for Wii u
How I decided To Get The Game
Prior on getting the Wii u i had no new console besides my Gamecube and had no intentions of getting a new console since most of them are out of my budget. Out of the blue a event happened that would change my life for the better. THE WII U WAS ON SALE AT WALMART FOR $270!! Normally i'm a cheap person that rarely spends over $30 but i decided ill be a rich guy just this once. I was prepared to pay the full amount, but luckily my brother was also interested so he covered half of the cost. The Wii U came in a bundle with pre installed Smash Bros and Splatoon. I didn't really care about Splatoon half as much as I did with Smash Bros. With the Wii U in my grasp I loaded that baby up and started making my Smash history.
For Glory And Getting Wrecked
First goal was too unlock all the characters that were available. At first i thought the process would involve grinding story mode for a long time, which would suck if that were the case. I found out on a gaming forum that you could actually unlock the characters through getting a certain amount of battles. Being a competitive person that i am I didn't bother playing bots or the story mode I went straight to For Glory. I picked Marth as my main just because he is a sexy beast with those combos but also the King Of Smash Ken played him. Playing my first game I was cocky as hell I thought that just because i played since the original smash bros no one could touch me, oh how wrong i was. My opponent was Mario and all he did was grab me throw me and up air. I remember it was down to my last stock he down smash me and exposed me! A day i can not get back. Not knowing about unsafe moves was a big downfall for because i would just run and dash attack. The rest of the night was all losses not even 1 victory. That ended Day 1
Resolve and Being Consistent
With defeat in my face I had a new drive to get better. Starting with the fundamentals I learn the 2 things that improved my game the most, short hops and fast fall. With theses two tools i was able to step up my game till the point where i could take a few victory. I was playing at least 1 hour everyday at the same time watching videos of others players. Time past and i felt like i needed a break from Marth and moved on to other characters such as Kirby and Luigi. The knowledge i gain helped as well.
Creating My Own Tournament
I looked for tournaments on the forums however most of them were out of my skill level. I wanted a tournaments that were near beginner- amateur level, ultimately i was unable to find such a tournament. On a whim i made my tournament! I named it "Rookie All Stars" and boy I thought it was gonna be great! 5 people signed up which is not bad considering that this was a no name brand tournament with no prize. Jan, 9 was the day of the tournament and i was all set.
NO ONE CAME...
I was so disappointment man! Even the guy who sighed up last minute didn't show up!
Next time i'm gonna name my next tournament " Don't Bail Allstars"
Conclusion
Well thanks for reading!
Smash has been really fun!
I we all can do our best this year!
