I've been thinking over the month's, ever since Smash Bros 64 I've been using characters that I love to use, in Melee same thing, but I started to use Kirby much much less around 2003 because he did not have that Kirby power I enjoy playing, that was before I was competitive with Smash, (which I didn't know Kirby's tier placement at the time until late 2005). And now in Brawl, I still continue to use characters in the games I enjoy and won a few local tourney's around my area, but after late 2008, I started to place under 2nd place but around 3rd or 4th with my same characters I main, and now ever since 2009, the highest I've ever went in singles is 9th so far. I know I can perform much better than I'm currently performing now. Ever since after February, I gave every character, even on the series I'm not too much of a fan of. I tried most of the characters I would thought I perform well with them, but the outcome came out of a one huge john around June, and it reads:
"I'm so pissed right now. I suck with every character that's not Kirby or Ness, I can't win with anyone anymore and that's all there is to it online or offline. I tried Toon Link, then some girl who main Kirby just beat me so I had to choose Ness to win. Mr. Game & Watch, a King Dedede main beat me in a close match, and then he choose Ice Climbers, when I saw him chain grab me twice, I just quit the match and let him win. Olimar, some annoying Sonic main came and picked his bad stage Jungle Japes and I couldn't kill him right. Mario, I lost two stocks when another Sonic main had one with mid damage level and he won that round. Wario, a Falco main just three stocked me on Pokemon Stadium, one of my ace stages and I'm mad about that. Lucas, ha ha ha ha, a ****en Samus main that was good beat me and I had many chances to kill her last stock when I had two. Luigi, Meta Knight ruin that plan of course. Peach, Zero Suit Samus basically spiked me twice and I only took one stock from her. Pokemon Trainer, Mr. Game & Watch ****ed up all my Pokemon on one of the stages I have a high losing streak to, Yoshi's Island (Brawl). King Dedede, HOW THE **** I KILL MYSELF WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO BEAT A SNAKE MAIN!!! Meta Knight... HA HA HA HA, I don't use Meta Knight anymore, I suck with him now. THIS IS MADNESS, AND BULL****!!!"
Yea, like that. But ever since a local tourney around July, I've gotten more attached to Toon Link since I'm use to his bomb's and boomerangs, and I decided on maining Wario again after seeing the new tier list, though King Dedede is very close since I main him from the beginning of Brawl. So far I use to only main the characters in the game series I love, but now, I use characters that match my playing style in tourney's. After all these years of Smash, I still first main Kirby despite how high in the tier list he's in on all the Smashes, but my secondary Mario was sadly not in my top reliable list anymore since I'm focusing on winning more tourney's. Only question I have for myself is should I main characters because they are high in the tier list, should I main characters that match my playing style, or should I main characters because I love to play their games? I've been thinking this for a while, and will soon find an answer, I don't know if anyone else is or was like I am currently, but someday, I hope for find the right answer I am searching for.
