I joined here recently, and before I joined I had been playing as Luigi and Link, I was the champion of my domain. For some reason, I find myself losing to level 9 computers and I'm frustrated. It may be that I am thinking about all these tactics too much. One thing I never used to do with Luigi is his down-b. Now I use it more, and I sidestep, tilt, and grab more but I'm not winning. I know I am much better in the air than I used to be, and I know his AT's. I just want to learn a solid tactic. I actually considered moving back to Link. (how dare me)
I think what I need to get better is getting people in the air, and stop becoming vulnerable with super jump punch. Any help for would be appreciated, I know a lot about Luigi and what to do but I think I'm not carrying it out the way I should be.

1. Don't play level 9 computers, EVER. (sorry, but it's the truth).
2. Play against people who are way better than you (one's which you normally lose to them). That way when you start beating those people or being 50:50 in match wins you have improved from were you were previously. But at these point you will need to find people who are better than you at that point again. It's a cycle.
3. Be patient, playing Luigi = having a lot of patience, if you just rush in like a maniac you will get punished and badly. (your not MK; and even while being MK patience is what separates good MK's from the rest.)
4. Watch Luigi players videos to learn from them, I recommend Boss's videos and Themann's, these videos can be found in the Luigi video thread that's stickied.
5. Don't sidestep... Sidestep against a good player and you'll get punished, the best here is to sidestep away from your opponent in any case if you sidestep into or behind him you will be punished.
6. Knowing AT's etc. can be one thing but putting them into practice and carrying them out effectively is another.
7. Don't super jump punch unless your sure it'll hit. If it doesn't you will get punished surely.
8. Getting people in the air? First you'll have to learn how to approach effectively and this again will require a lot of patience.

^^^^^^^^

Pointed at for truth. Lots of truth.

I will say however, if any situation really calls for being ancy, being agressive, and rushing in, tornado is your friend. Also, it gets people into the air.

I just kind of noticed now that the up-tilt is the BEST combo setup, little knockback into the air, which sets up another tilt, a smash, or midair combos. Thanks for the advice, I'll go a little slower on the super jump punch.

I think I just had a really bad week, I kind of feel my power coming back already... lol
But I've already started using combos more, like a combo i just recently did against D3 in sonic's stage. fireball>he sidestepped> it bounced off the broken wall, hit him and made him slide to me> down smash> upair>reverse fair> misfire> KILL!! 70% in 3 seconds
