Hello, i've just joined this website. First post. I've put together some controls for brawl, and i thought i'd post them. They're wii-mote turned on side style. tell me what you think. I'm not going to go into extra-fiddly details like wave-dashing and things. im not very good at that type of thing. You people are alot greater than me, maybe you can post your ideas?enjoy.

I was thiniing along the lines of:

D pad: move, decide what attack to use. (NO JUMP)
B: Shield
A: Standard attacks
A+B: Grab
2: Jump
1: Special attacks
+: Pause
-: Taunt

You can't have jumping on the d-pad, because there's no analog, and you need up attacks.

Putting Attack on A would kind of like... totally suck. Actually, having anything on A or B doesn't seem like a good idea, but, what can you do...

Me, I would see it like this:

Dpad: Move and jump
2: Regular Attack
1: Special Attack
2+1: Grab
A: Shield, gesture left/right/down for dodge

And B, I dunno. I'd rather have it not used.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i seem to recall nintendo saying they wanted to keep motion control to bare minimum? Anyway, motion control doesn't really seem practical to me... maybe pointer menus max. I don't know... a fast paced game like brawl?

EDIT: And Eaode, it may be true that you need up attacks, but using your idea, you wouldn't be able to do them anyway; your thumb would be busy with the A button. Unless you're suggesting using your other hand... that would be awkward don't you think? Justin, i like your idea of gesturing to dodge, (ie A plus gesture down equals dodge, A plus gesture left or right rolls etc) I guess gestures aren't that bad if you can come up with a practical way to use them...

Hello, i've just joined this website. First post.
Before you post you should read the rules. Before you ever make a topic, you should check if a similar topic has already been created. There are quite a few controller related threads. You could have posted this in any one of them.

Oh, sorry, i just joined up so i could post my idea and then see what everyone had to say about it. My brother will probably use this account most of the time anyway. He'll be a bit more responsible. :)
