Multishining/ Jumping out of Shine Questions

I've noticed that the quickest way to jump out of a shine is by quickly pressing up after shining (down B), however it is hard for me to do this consistently. I am wondering if you can jump out of shield just as fast with X which is more comfortable for me which would greatly improve my gameplay instead of co-oping with pressing up.

It would really help my double shining and wave shining in general a lot more also.

I don't know the exact comparitive logistics of maximum hypothetical thumb speed to maximum hypothetical velocity of the control stick passing through the required vertices, so I can't give you an exact answer to that question.

What I can say is that yes, with enough practice, and barring any physical disabilities you may have, you can move your thumb fast enough from B to X/Y (and vice versa) to get the job done (multishines, Fox's SHDL, etc). The fact that people already do play like this is proof.

I've tried learning to doubleshine with the control stick and it just makes it more awkward it seems than using y. The only time I think I use the control stick to jump is for low ledge hop double lasers.

Learn to use Y. Makes life easy later on.
I agree, I just started practicing double shines (I use Y for everything). In just a couple hours of training I am starting to get double shines out on shield about 50% of the time.

Pressing up is to risky you could endup high jumping, instead rely on your muscle memory of how to shorthop with your right hand, esp with Y.

I used X for most things but deff can't use it with multi shines, I'm just not that fast you just gotta rock your thumb back and forth from b to y
left side of thumb hits b > right side of thumb hits y > left b > right y > repeat

You also can't use X for laser related stuff (LHDL with Falco, SHDL with Fox) because pressing A as you slide your thumb across will aerial.

Not sure why you would want to, but go for it. lol I just can't imagine anyone is capable of consistently going from X to B with their thumb in 1 frame without hitting A.

I guess I shouldn't have said "can't," but it certainly makes it unnecessarily difficult. My point about hitting B a frame after X still stands.

AAWWWW!!! I hate using Y instead of X, I feel like I have no control and after Smashing for 6 years using X it is going to be really annoying switching over.

When I first started playing this game a while back for fun, I used "X" instead of "Y" to jump. Later on I learned the benefit of just switching to "Y." while there are players im sure who will have no problem disagreeing with me, I think as a Falco main, getting to "B" & "A" as well as the C-Stick, is quicker and easier when going from "Y."

One last thing, I use the analog stick for double-shine and shine->bair, and I can say in 98% consistent with this after a little warming up. Not doing a certain movement because of risk of messing up seems pointless. For example, I could argue on your terms that wave landing is to risky because you could end up accidentally air dodging instead. There will always be a risk with certain tech-skill, don't let that stop you from doing it, practice and become consistent to reduce risk.

You could just learn how to doubleshine with the control stick if you don't want to switch to Y
