okay, so I live in a dorm, and as such there's certain internet restrictions here I guess, but I'm trying to play xbox live and when I try to go online with the xbox via ethernet, I get the error, not enough MTU, should be at least 1364. Course, I didn't expect it to work yet, I need to go upgrade my internet to 1024kbs upload/2048kbs download for $20 a month before I expect it to work, but will it obtain the necessary MTUs when I do this do you think?
Obviously I don't believe anybody will be able to for sure tell me how my school does their internet, but any gut feelings out there?.. God knows what the speed of this internet is now or what it's MTU settings are (maximum transmission units), it can stream Hulu family guy though just barely as it stands now, unupgraded, I've never done a speed check on it, plus I'm sure I'd vary greatly..
*** okay, well, right now the standard dorm package appears to be running at ~600KbsDL ~510KbsUL, which is pretty good, not that I think this correlates directly with MTUs, I guess the key thing I'm stressing is, does anyone think that if I update to a better package that costs money at university 'X' if they'll include a higher MTU? Just a speculative answer I think is all I can get..
