I've been living in the same house in a suburb for the past 8 years of my life. Since then I've made alot of friends, got a kickass room placement, and eventually found myself a lady-friend.
Now, fast-forward and my dad is about to lose his job because apparently the manager doesn't like how old my dad is. Ech.
So, my family has had some talks and were basically moving to Plano TX (4 hour drive from where we are situated) or Chandler (?) Arizona. This has me pretty bumbed out because I'm leaving everything behind in a few months. Moving to a new place I've never been to in a house I'm not comfortable with is kind of scary. Has anyone else had moving blues?

Currently having it, kinda. Moving from a town of about 200 people (on a good day) to the capital of Ohio is going to be a huge culture shock. Doesn't help that this is my first time really being out on my own, either.

I'm sure things'll end up fine, even if it is six kinds of bull**** that your dad's losing his job due to something like age.

Honestly just see it as a new start, you're 14 and most likely aren't in high school yet, and even if you are, the really good days are when you're an upper classmen in Junior/Senior years. Being the new kid is great because you can meet whoever you want without them knowing about you before. And anyways, it's not like your friends are dead. They'll probably be okay with hanging out with you still, just spend a weekend at someone's house and hang out with everyone.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. Humans are meant to lose friends. It's bittersweet moving somewhere, and you just gotta focus on the positives. I'm in a similar situation as most of my friends are seniors this year and I'm a junior. I know I can stay in touch with everyone but it's not gonna be the same at school without them.

Just keep your head up, play smash when you feel sad, and try your best to meet a ton of people because if you are quiet and isolate yourself, chances are you won't get approached.

I moved to a bigger town years back, and it was a big change. I eventually got used to it, but nothing bad came from it. I've moved a few times in my life before, so I guess I was kind of used to it.

All I can say is that you shouldn't stress out too much because of moving. It does suck that your dad lost his job, but I hope that's the least of your family's concerns.
