I've been thinking about this whole issue of movement with the directional airdodge, and i came across an idea.

A horrible, awful idea. /end dr. seuss reference

Anyhow, there are a few threads here supposedly confirming short hop. If this is the case, there is the possibility of a shuffl-like combo with the new airdodge, to make it so one might be invulnerable while moving forwards still, or even better, short hop, fast fall and THEN airdodge, possibly just remixing the timing for wavedash. ideas only of course, what does everyone think?

With the new air dodge, it's inevitable that people will change the metagame. Well, this concerns all of the techniques, but there will be some way to replace wavedashing for another spacing technique. This seems like a very likely canidate.

I know this thread isn't about wavedashing.. but I just can't understand how they would have gotten rid of it.. you'd have to like completely change the physics of landing and air dodging.. I can accept the fact that it's gone.. it's just hard to think what will happen when you try to do a wavedash.. do you just finish the dodge on the ground 0_o?

EDIT

I just read gimpy's impressions and now I understand how there is no wave dashing. I guess I can deal with it. No more Bowser train though... T_T
