I did a little thinking about Brawl (as we all do these days  ) and I thought up something that may help balance (or perhaps break) the characters.

Move types: the 4 (or more or less) types of normal and special moves that all characters have: Bash, Cut, Explode, Energy. I figured all characters would be weak against one type, resistant to another and neutral to the remaining two. I didnt put so much thought as to who would have which weaknesses (or SHOULD) but I figure if done correctly it could balance the game (though...maybe not).

Bash type moves would be obvious, like Mario's A moves, but would also be things like the Boomerang and Peach's Forward Smashes.

Cut would obviously be swords, claws and the like.

Explode being bombs, missiles or certain moves (Captain Falcon's Up B, Peach's Forward B, etc.)

Energy is anything Ness would be able to absorb with Psi Magnet.

Originally I'd had Pierce as a type too, but I could only think of 2 or 3 moves that'd fit that: Link/Young Link's arrows, Sheik's needles.

Anyways, I doubt this'd be in Brawl (Im almost sure it wont be) but I want people's opinions on it and (if you care) how this idea could be changed to better to balance the game.

It might work, but anything above 5% more/less damage for really strong moves is pushing it.
