I was just curious as to which controller was "deemed" the best controller for competitive play? The classic or gamecube, or do we not know yet?

We won't know know until it comes out, since we haven't been able to customize them, or even try out the nunchuck. But I'm thinking the GC controller will be the best.

The Game Cube controller because most pros are already used to it. I'm actually buying more game cube controllers for Brawl because I throw my controllers when I loose in Melee. (Don't do that, it gets expensive.) So I'd imagine that the Gamecube controller is what most people who are built into Melee are going to use. Also, I'd recommend that you only use an Official Nintendo controller or a Wave bird cause all third party controllers don't have a perfect feel.

Ugh, im not a fan of the wave bird, and i cant stand wired controllers. The classic controller feels awkward though.

I love wired controllers but that's just me. And I'm not a big fan of wavebirds cause there's a slight lag, but Gamecube controllers for the win.

I don't see why everyone is counting out the Wii + Nunchuck combination. It looks to be just effective as the GC or Virtual Console controls, with or without the use of gesture smashes.

The only advantage of wii remote or remote + nunchuck controller configurations shown thus far is the possibility of snakes final smash being pointer controlled and even then, that only applies if smash balls are used in tournaments.

Chances are most people will stick with the GCN. But it will be from person to person, I don't think one will actually be better than another. Personally I think I'm going with the Nunchuch/Wiimote.

That Lag, If any is almost undetectable. I've been using a wavebird for years. The bigger problem with wavebirds is batteries dying mid match or something

no one seems to notice that the wiimote+nunchuck setup is technically the best because you use more fingers for the same amount of buttons, which means faster reflexes.

not only that but all dodging, moving, jumping and shielding are on your left hand, leaving your right hand to concentrate solely on attacks.

for once you're not using the same thumb to short jump and sex kick, it should come out much smoother using 2 fingers.

no one seems to care though, they're all stuck on "i ALWAZ use GC CONTROL so itz bettr imo". i predict that wiimote nunchuck will slowly take over the competitive scene when people start realizing its a technically better set up

I want to try Wiimote + Nunchuck as well, but the real drawback is that you only have one analog stick between them. And even though there is the alternative of shake-smashing, I doubt that it will make up for the loss of throwing items and controlling aerials with the second stick.

Edit: And double stick DI, and other techniques that have yet to be discovered in Brawl.

I'll definitely try out the other methods, but the cube controller is what I'm used to so it'll be difficult to change.

I will try out the Wiimote and will probably use the GC controller.

The problem with the nunchuk +Wiimote for me is that.. The texture of the both of them cause it to slip in my hands. So I'm guessing the singular Wiimote would fix that since I have two hands to grip with. And I've got to say that the GC probably is the best in my case with the feel in my hands and being so used to it. I barely play my Wii and I don't want to eat up batteries :D

I think the Classic controller will be. It doesn't have the sub-optimal button placement of the GC controller. Doing B moves and jumping, like Falco's shff laser, is more difficult than it should be on the GC controller. I'm open to the Wiimote+Nunchuk setup, but I think ultimately I'll settle with Classic.

Temporary. Soon to be replaced by a zombie-proof

Jumping with the stick? No thanks.
Plus, buttons are mappable, so any advantage that would give can be removed at the options screen.

I stocked up on GC controllers.
when did i say anything about jumping with the stick?? the nunchuck has a jump button in the wiimote setup, and its using the same hand as the stick, except a different finger.

you can dedicate a sole finger only for jumping with that set up

...yes i know you can remove the advantages using the button map function... but why would you ever want to remove them? no one is going to do that...

The GC controller was BUILT for Smash. Nothing else has button placement like it.

I'm guessing GC controller because everyone is used to them and the button configuration doesn't need any customization. It's fine the way it already is.

I'm leaning towards a Wavebird because the battery life on that lasts longer than the Classic/Remote Nunchuk batteries.

I plan on using the wiimote + nunchuck and enabling gesture smashes, just for the novelty of it.
