I'm working on a ruleset that removes RPS + stage striking for the first match to save more time.

So if there was a single stage you'd have to go for the 1st match of every set; Which one would it be?

Out of those three?

I'm still kind of new to the competitive mindset, but Battlefield's my personal favorite out of the three listed. It's the stage my group uses when we play short tourneys in the final match, and it's the one we play most often but that's just because we have a guy who's super-concerned with absolute balance and he kinda abhors "for fun" matches.

Pokemon Stadium 2 matches are probably faster though (at least from my experience) so if your concern is time I'd go that route.

PS2 is my favorite out of the 3 but not the "most Balanced" due to the low ceiling. i'd go with Battlefield or SV

PS2 and BF are my preferences, but aren't as balanced as most claim they are. PS2 with the low ceiling, and BF as a stage with triangle platforms (which puts chars that have a bad anti-juggle game at a disadvantage). Smashville is as balanced as a stage can get: med. sized blast zones, a lack of walls to be taken advantage of, and solves the issue of platforms or lack of platforms giving advantage to one side or the other by simply providing both.

I dont feel there is a single 'best' stage but im sure everyone can agree to that. Out of the three, I feel almost every character feels comfortable on Pokemon Stadium 2 (PS2 for simplicity and jokes). It's long enough to allow projectile spam but has platforms to help avoid them. It's size isn't too large to abuse but not small enough to be a gimmick stage. Over all it is the best I feel. Of course not every match up is even on it but out of every match up, more than average feel comfortable on it.

Smashville is my favorite stage, but I feel that PS2 is the most balanced. Not that the other two aren't balanced its just that PS2 has more of that that even playing field aura. Something about it just feels right for every MU lol.

If there were a most balanced stage, then we wouldn't need stage striking in the first place.

Or any other stages.

Have you forgotten? This is project MatchUp. None of those stages = balanced.

I love how PS2 is voted most balanced even though it is one of the best CPs against Jiggz/Peach/Kirby.

Basically any character gets a free cp against them on PS2 before the match even starts.

Shrink Dracula. Dynamic platforms that favor a wide variety of strategies at various times, including slanted approaches. Much more globally fair than any of these.
