More evidence of demo build being different from final.

I know we've all been talking about how the demo probably isn't final and how some of the things in the game need to be cleaned up. Check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edCQDRuL8Dk&list=PL2JiZAV5BmDWcPKIfaeijxnxFU7iT-dX4#t=1443

At 10:06 the rep says "I'm going to play with Mario but in this build..ehhhh."

I think that pretty much confirms that he's been playing a different build of the game and that the final one is at least different enough to affect his play with Mario. I'm starting to have more faith that things will be ironed out before release. I know most of us have came to that conclusion already but it doesn't hurt to have some reassurance.

Good to have this reminder to straighten out the people that are yelling BRAWL 2.0! uncontrollably, I'm actually pretty satisfied with what I saw on the CLASH tournament videos, and that' just this unfinished, rushed, quickly-compiled build, I think things are looking bright for Smash :D

Really, did anyone expect this version to be final? There are clear signs that this demo was a modified early version of the game, notable characters being left out, inconsistency in laggy aerials, glitches(there were demo crashes) that Sakurai in the direct pointed out that they are fixing . This is the most likely scenario, in addition to the fact that Brawl was radically different in its demo, which was was most likely either an early build or constructed off melee's engine. Stuff like this happens all the time in the videogame industry, the issue with the laggy aerials might have already been corrected in the current build of the game, so keep your heads on.

Yeah, I don't think he meant anything special by saying "build." I'm fairly certain he just means "the public build" as opposed to the countless test builds that they play in the office. After all, it's an ongoing process. I don't think we should read too much into that comment since it's pretty obvious there will be more builds in the future whether they're made public or not.

I'd have thought common sense was enough evidence. There's still months of development time.

Also, isn't Mario supposed to be really good?

I'm pretty sure that that's what everyone else is talking about as well, so you're agreeing with them.

Nice find.

Just curious, how involved are these people in the development of Smash 4? Are they only playtesting it or what? I thought most Nintendo games, including Smash Bros, had virtually 100% Japanese developers.

Not only are changes inevitable, the E3 demo wouldn't be up to date with what they're currently working on. Demo builds take time to make (it's more than just checking a couple of boxes), and they would keep working on the game after the demo was ready. Add in time to set everything up at E3 and it's at least a few weeks if not more.

I don't think they're actually play testing but they certainly have access to it for translation/localization.
