Monitor Blur

Okay so I have a small LCD monitor and have used it for probably 3 or 4 years. No problems with it yet, except when viewing highly contrasting colors (Like these boards: Black/white) I seem to have a blur that goes off to the right side of the screen. It really only does it for this site and a few others (gaming is fine, and so are sites with a white bg/black text color scheme)

I've adjusted my brightness levels as I was 10/100 brightness. Now at 50, everything is doing slightly better except this site. I saw something about calibrating my gamma levels on the internet, but I think it might be my monitor is just old...

tl;dr: my monitor is blurring things up and I need to fix it.

Analog signals tend to get worse over time, normally you don't notice anything unless you are using a large monitor or have been using it for multiple years.

If it really bothers you just get a new screen, also be warned DVI which is perfectly crisp(and will solve this problem), does have slight lag time added to it around 1/20 of a second added, its really not a problem unless your a HUGE frame *** like me.

Depends. If you use the VGA connection you'll probably see issues still, especially since it's a big(ger?) monitor. If you use DVI instead you won't see this issue because the signal will be digital and not prone to contrast-induced ghosting.

Personally I prefer keeping both my options open, DVI for normal use, surfing the web/movies, and VGA for gaming because I am kindof picky about lag. Also there is good odds if lets say your friend comes over with his laptop and goes hey hey, let me show you all this sweet vid then you can hook it up to your monitor, because alot of laptops for some godforsaken reason don't have DVI connectors yet, and yeah this is from personal experience, I was the only one with a DVI adapter.

That doesn't really change the answer I gave. Keep your options open if you care about lag with DVI or whatever, but DVI still avoids analog-related ghosting that you would see with VGA. :p

MCO: no, you don't need to replace your motherboard. Just get a video card with a DVI connector if you want to use DVI. If you're currently using integrated graphics (sounds like you are, if your first thought was to replace your motherboard and not your possibly-non-existent graphics card) you can get a pretty low-end card. Just make sure it's compatible with your current motherboard, which likely (but not necessarily) uses PCI Express.

Judging from your description I think everyone is spot on in this being a hardware issue, but you could always try to reinstall your graphics driver to see if it improves the condition. It certainly won't hurt anything, but most likely it's the hardware.
