I'm a college student. Which is the same thing as saying I am poor with a lot of free time. Somehow, the job market expects me to get experience for a job but ALL jobs require it. I tried to get at a copying store that was hard-up for people. Literally, ALL they had was 3 people working during a busy shift. I applied. I did the callback. ****ING NOTHING! They said I lacked graphical design experience. This was while I had a ****ing client I was working with on her graphic design stuff. Thanks *******s.

So, enraged, annoyed, and rejected, I took a job at school. It's pretty good wages, light work, I get to mess with people, cool. But I am graduating within the next 2 years and then going to music school... in Los Angeles. I want to actually do SOMETHING with my degree, but English is limited in what you actually can do with it. So, I turned to the dark side: Online Methods.

Check my signature, I already am whoring myself out for one (if I make money, I'll be whoring myself out more). But is it really so bad? The internet has an infinite wealth of resources and honestly, I just want to work at home. This scenario would create an awesome environment in California, but it seems every opportunity I research is a ****ing dead-end scam. I look to reading manuscripts for reviews/editing and I am met with the same thing - "Must have 2/3/5 years experience with editing." Editing isn't the easiest thing to get into, as I've learned, degree or not. I am really getting tempted to switch to Business for the sake of having a job.

Well, I can say the site in my sig, isn't THAT bad. If you do none of the offers through the site (I did 37ish) you can still make about $48 a month just doing daily surveys. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and they said it's all legit. I am still within my first month, and it's not so bad. Plus, people you refer net you money and as the site grows you get more money as well. (anyone interested with questions, just ask me, I'm still new to it and weary that I will get paid, but I do the offers on my own downtime anyway, so no loss). I guess this will be my supplemental for now until I can find a decent job of sorts.

I really hate when I am uncertain. This is why I haven't been as active lately. Between hoping to find money for an apartment locally before I move across the country, running out of time to get good enough to GO to where I want to go, I feel quite burnt out and depressed when I get home. So, I forgot the point of all this...

I guess post your ways of coming up with quick cash, any experiences with online money schemes, scams, or legit businesses (I am filing Cashcrate as a scheme until it officially pays me), really anything like that. I'm interested in knowing if I am really alone here.

Donate plasma. No joke, I know lots of people that do it. Its a free $200 every month.

I do work study at my school. Cool thing is its related to what I want to do. So, I work AND get experience. I suggest going that rout.

I'm really too scared of being scammed to do any of these "Get rich over the internet" things. Plus I seem to get a **** load of spam programs as it is.

You see CK. The way you get money is actually in your text. How could you have been so blind. Thats what you need to do. Its a great job. Just ask my aunt. She says its fun, people are easy to work with, and it has great benefits.

I'm too young to have this problem or solution, but have you considered any investments? I'm currently investing in different companies, my father buys shares for me once in a while so basically my money is getting me money.

The only thing with investments is how long they take and sometimes you lose money =/

I hope you find a good job soon.

Plasma is out, I am terrified of needles. My thing with getting jobs online, I refuse to pay more than $20 for any job. I can make that back quickly, and it's not that big of a loss. So far, I have gotten no viruses, and I use an alternate e-mail.

I'm workin' on an idea for a television show.... It's turnin' out alright, so far. It might not end up working (probably won't, lol), but I do FULLY intend on going through with it. I hope that my majoring in English in college can help that at all. You might actually remember a thread I made about it QUITE a while back, CK.

Other than that, I just offer to work for family members. House work and stuff. I've got applications in few places. Heck, if I make enough for gas every 2 weeks, which is 15 bucks a week, I'm happy.

EDIT: Donating plasma?? eeew...... I couldn't handle the needles either... ouch...

OK CK, in all seriousness. Why dont you sell all your junk on Ebay or in a yard sale. People will buy anything. Also a really good job to have if you want money is waiting tables. I'm a waiter and I usually pull in about 140 a night. My best night I made 280. Thats all in straight up cash. Its different for some places but still no matter where you wait tables you'll make good money.

Donate sperm. I'm serious. I don't know what it pays but why not get paid to do something that you normally do anyways. Plus, no needles.

Or you could try and become an ebay seller, if you really have lots of time. You know, buy 360's and Wii's and then resell them for a few bucks more.

None of your business.
Write a book about your troubles. I'm not kidding. If you can add as many drmatic cliches in your book to make people cry their ***** off, it will most likely sell.

Or, gather up a ton of old stuff you don't want or don't need and sell it in any way you can (eBay, yard sales, etc.). After my parent's wedding and after purchasing their house they were dead broke, yet they got through their troubles by selling all their old crap (of course, my father's '76 Corvette probably helped).

So, I guess my best suggestion would be to sell a bunch of your old stuff. Read articles on how to price the stuff and be willing to bargain with people.

I looked into becoming an elite power seller on Ebay. You need to get connections with wholesalers, but it discounted, then sell through ebay. You have no inventory so it's all profit. But I have NO idea how to get into that.

Ever since I started working for SkyWest airlines, I've been referring people to work at airports ever since. If you live close to an airport, I'd seriously recommend working there.

I work in a cubicle for 4 hours every weekday, just copying handwritten aircraft maintenance logs into computers. I only get $8.45 an hour, but it's extremely simple, extremely flexible, and airline perks are outstanding. I fly to anywhere in the US for free, and anywhere in the world for extremely cheap.

Though I actually work at the company headquarters instead of the airport, I'm sure most major airports have similar jobs.

As for simple at-home jobs, I'm not entirely sure.

I should add I live in a town SOUTH of New Orleans. My nearest airport is for small private planes. That job does sound freaking awesome.

I am considering getting my bartender's license. I make decent money working at school, but I really need a second job/source of income to help me out more.

Getting your bartending license wouldn't be a bad idea at all. You could stick with that and eventually open up your own bar.

Hang on...what did you major in? Why don't you do something with your degree?

I know I'm not the one near-broke here, but that sounda almost as bad as donating plasma. No needles, perhaps, but that sounds scary to me. I know I couldn't do that. But that may just be me fearing becoming impotent from it, which I doubt is possible anyways.

Getting a bartenders license may be the best option. On the side, you could have a garage sale to get rid of your bits and bobs (Unless you're like me and CAN'T get rud of that stuff. To attatched) or even just apply for an odd job at a fast food joint or such. But the bartenders one seems the smartest.

Tonight I made 165 dollars in tips. Why dont you work as a part-time waiter. Its really good money if your good with people. Your pretty kool to talk to so I'm sure you would do good. Oh yea it was just a seven hour day. Thats basically 22 dollars an hour plus waiters get paid 3 dollars an hour.

Who said I was near broke? I live at home, I buy very few stuff, and I have a pretty good paying job. My issues are more so I need a second job to save up for my move to Hollywood.

Also, my major is English, and unlike other majors, I don't think I can get a job just because I have a degree in that.

Garage sales are out because, well, I own nothing of value that I don't want. I basically use stuff until it stops working, no matter what, then I get something new. My old desktop PC, I got in 10th grade and still use it today in tandem with my new custom PC (neither of which are working at the moment until I can get a computer guy to look at them)

So, to clarify, I am not broke or desperate for a job, per sae, I just need a second income that won't take nearly as much time as my current job (21 hours a week) or pays a lot better. I don't really want to wait tables because, well, I hate people. I have issues talking to people who don't catch on as quick as I do.

Anyone have ANY stats on being a bartender? (preferably in Louisiana including median wages, hours worked, etc) Would I have to start drinking for it? I just don't drink so I didn't want that to conflict.

Are you looking to be a bartender in a restaurant, or at an actual bar? The only bartenders I knew were from restaurants that I worked at.

And being a non-alcoholic bartender is just the same as being a vegetarian butcher. You don't need to consume the stuff you sell, just as long as you know what you're doing... though it might be tough when people ask 'What do you recommend?'

Buhwuh?

Two hundred bucks a month?

Would you have to be 18?

Can you really "donate" $200 worth of your plasma every month without going into cardiac arrest?

I need to know more.

Plasma is the liquid part of blood. It replenishes quickly. I believe you only have to be 17.

Not sure if it's painful or not.

Do you know if this is a Red Cross thing?

I remember a Red Cross truck came to our school. When people donated blood, all they got was orange juice, cookies, and a t-shirt. No money.

Also, how do they take only the plasma? Do they have one needle to take out blood, and another needle to put the non-plasma parts back in, with a machine to remove the plasma in between? That sounds kind of freaky.

It's not a red cross thing, it's a different company. I think the procedure takes around an hour

I thought that they just took blood samples and kept them. if they needed the plasma they would have just brought it back to like a lab, put it in a centrifuge, and spun the blood to seperate the blood and plasma.
