Messing around in training and saw this.
Seems like the activation of the art makes Shulk invincible for a bit.
Useful? Probably not, but it is pretty neat.

I see this been very useful with the Jump Monado Art Landing Lag Cancel as it protects you from been shield grabbed thanks to the invincibility.
