I have a controller with the spring taken out of L. It works beautifully most of the time, but sometimes it'll go into this weird thing where it'll automatically shield all the time. I've noticed that it never starts in the middle of a match, and the same thing on another controller with the R button doesn't cause giga bowser to appear. What could be causing this to happen so I can fix it?

Modded controller causing auto shield

im going out on a limb here and saying the problem lies within your controller.
open it up and check that something isnt causing the button to think its pressed (or gets stuck mid match)
