Minneapolis/St. Paul Smash Tournaments

I have been talking to a few friends and we are not familiar with the competitive scene around us, and wondering first and foremost if there is any already existing large scale tournaments in the area? Is there a large smash community here in the cities? If my friends and I were to host something similar to what you see in terms of weekly tournaments would others be interesting in attending?

This post is mostly a question if there is an existing scene, or can my friends and I aid in creating an outlet for smashers to practice and compete. Thoughts?

What smash games do you play? I know we do have a somewhat decent size melee scene here that do tournaments, but I don't know too much about it. Smash 4 does exist here too, but I'm pretty sure its extremely small. I have no idea about the other games. The smash community is here in the cities its just very small. I would love to see it grow.
