Th3 Ice King
Smash Cadet
Hey everyone Th3 Ice King from the southern Indiana area (Evansville)
I have been blessed to network with many of the Tristate's players either through my own events or others. I have been fortunate to also meet several of the regions champions. I like to think that the Midwest Smash scene is working very hard. I know the coasts usually have more players and the best players tend to migrate there in order to continue their improvement or attend more events. I feel though that the Midwest is booming more so than ever. Does anyone else feel this way? Events are becoming more frequent and larger. Regional sized events are happening same day without hurting each others attendance. Is it time for the Midwest to start making a comeback? Normally as soon as someone becomes great in the area they move, but that is becoming less frequent as our overall skilled player pool increases. Am I high? Is this wishful thinking? Does anyone else feel that the Midwest is on the rise?
I really am looking forward to the idea that Midwest events can support the necessary attendance to bring out the players outside of our region. If only our area as a whole was more attractive. Going to Florida for Paragon was so much more appealing to what I would guess would be the opposite as coming from Florida to Evansville. Smash is smash though and I think just playing more and better players is the goal. I am really looking forward to the Melee word for the next year.
